Description

Our flatmate Rhiannon will sadly be leaving us to move in with her partner in January. Myself and Neil, the remaining flatmates, are both keen to stay and hope to find someone friendly to join us. The ideal move-in date would be the weekend of the 5th January, but we can be flexible.

The flat itself is part of an old converted boarding school and is unbelievably spacious for London with really high ceilings, cavernous entrance hall and even a little turret. Part of a gated block of flats with entry phone and secure bike and car parking, it also has a communal roof terrace with views over the city - great for summer parties.

We have a large, open-plan kitchen and living room, including a big flatscreen TV, a projector for movie nights, surround sound system and, arguably best of all, a dishwasher. There is also a utility cupboard with a combi-washer-dryer, a digital piano in the hallway and a small attic space for storage.

The available double room shares a modern bathroom (toilet, sink and shower) with my room, while Neil in the 3rd bedroom has his own separate en-suite. The available room comes with a double bed, mattress, large dresser (with bountiful storage space), a full length mirror and a wardrobe. It has tall sash windows making it bright and airy, with the bonus of also having black-out curtains.

The bills are around £110 per month, with the heating amount fluctuating depending on the time of year. The other cost will be a security deposit of £833.33.

Neil and I have lived in the flat for about 7 years now, and the area is great; Shadwell itself is fairly quiet with decent amenities and excellent transport links, but we're also a stones throw from Whitechapel and Wapping on either side (the latter having some beautiful old riverside pubs) and an easy walk to Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Tower Bridge and Limehouse.

The DLR is just 5 minutes away, taking you to Bank or Canary Wharf, while the Overground station directly over the road from there goes up through Whitechapel (for the Lizzie Line) and Shoreditch to Dalston and Highbury, or south of the river via Canada Water.

As for us: I'm a film, music, fashion and exercise-loving web developer working at a security start-up in Old Street. Neil works as a paralegal in the city, is just as friendly and enjoys football, the gym and watching the latest big US TV shows. We are what Spareroom seems to call an LGBTQ+ "mixed share" (I'm gay, Neil is straight), so we're particularly welcoming of all identities and sexualities.

We're hoping for a similarly minded flat mate to join a nice, sociable flat where we are equally happy hanging out together - watching films and tv shows, going for drinks, exhibitions and events - as we are doing our own thing.

Do let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Josh
