I, the landlord, am a single mum of two easy-going children of 13 (boy) and 16 (girl) years old and a super friendly small dog.
My children and I live in a bright three storey flat in South-Kensington – very central (Zone 1), close to Gloucester road Tube Station with direct access to Piccadilly, Circle and District Lines and an array of direct bus connections from High Street Kensington. We are just 7 minutes on foot from the Imperial College South Kensington Campus. Our house gives on a leafy and quiet garden square to which we have access for sunbathing – or studying – when the sun is out.
We have a single room to rent as of September 8, 2025. The room itself is bright with a peaceful view to greenery. It has a four doors cupboard and a desk and access to a large family bathroom shared only with my daughter.
We are looking for a female lodger only. The weekly rent for the room is £240 per week including all bills. Upon agreement, I am happy to reduce the weekly rent to £180-200 per week against some simple services which this person would render to the family during the week, according to her study/work schedule. These would typically be preparing some easy family meals for a few evenings a week and ensuring adult presence in the flat for one/two night(s)/overnight when I am on a business trip.
This is a slightly different proposition to a house share with other students/young professionals. We have had young females staying with us for 15 years now and they all enjoyed the family environment, the very quiet space of their room and the very central location.
Just a few additional practical details. I usually expect a 5 weeks deposit.
We will be happy to welcome a new member in the family, even if we are all very aware of the personal space of that person and her desire for her own quiet space and time. We know how to make this work with the right type of person.
