Bright Double Room in Friendly, Tidy Deptford Home (Move-in: 28th April)
Hello!
We’re looking for a clean, considerate and like-minded housemate to move into our peaceful home in St John’s, Deptford. If you’re looking for more than just a room — a proper home where everyone pulls their weight and respects each other’s space — we’d love to hear from you! Please send a message telling us a bit about yourself (age, job, interests, lifestyle, etc). Note: profiles without bios or photos will be ignored (sorry, too many bots!)
The Room:
A furnished double bedroom overlooking the back garden, quiet and full of natural light. Perfect for someone who wants a calm space to relax in. It's not a box room — it fits a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and desk comfortably.
The House:
We live in a semi-detached Victorian house on a cul-de-sac in St John’s, so it’s incredibly peaceful — no traffic noise or pollution. The house has:
A shared living room, cosy and social.
A well-equipped kitchen, with a shared weekly deep clean.
A lovely back garden, which we’re looking to revive in time for summer (if you’re green-fingered, we’d love your help!).
One shared bathroom, you will be sharing with 3 others, and two from the summer.
You’ll be living with two other people and a couple (five total for now), but the couple are moving out in the summer, so the house will go down to four people total long-term.
Who You’ll Be Living With:
We’re a friendly group of busy professionals, aged late 20s to mid 30s, working in teaching, research, marketing, and electrical engineering. We’ve all met through the house and enjoy a nice balance of friendly chats and independent time. It’s a calm, respectful, non-party household, and we’re looking for someone on the same page.
Cleanliness (This Is a Big One!):
We can’t stress this enough — we’re looking for someone genuinely clean and tidy. This means:
Always leaving the kitchen and shared spaces exactly as you found them.
No “I’ll do it later” attitudes.
Doing more than the bare minimum — we all go the extra mile to keep our home pleasant.
Nobody cleans up after anyone else.
We have a simple cleaning rota: the kitchen gets a deep clean weekly, floors every two weeks, and shared responsibilities like taking out bins and recycling are done continually. You must be willing to take on your share of this — it’s not optional, and it’s fair and easy when everyone chips in!
Recycling & Sustainable Living:
We take sustainability seriously — we recycle food waste, soft plastics, glass, cardboard, and more, and we want someone who’s equally committed. If you care about the environment, try to reduce waste, and are super mindful of energy use, you’ll fit right in. Everyone helps take out the bins, rotate recycling, and keep things running smoothly.
The Area:
We’re 3 minutes from St John’s station (8 mins to London Bridge, 12 to Cannon Street), and close to Deptford, Brockley, Blackheath, Greenwich Park, and Hilly Fields. There’s a Saturday farmer’s market, loads of great cafés and pubs nearby, and a small park at the bottom of the road where you can spot herons and even the occasional kingfisher!
Move-In & Viewings:
Move-in date: Monday 28th April
Two long-term tenants are travelling from 6th–20th April, so viewings will be scheduled from 20th April onward, but we’re happy to continue them right up until move-in day to find the right fit.
If you’ve read all this and think you’d be a good match, please message with a bit about yourself — age, job, working pattern (e. g. WFH/hybrid), interests, and anything else you’d like to share. We’re looking for someone thoughtful, calm, and committed to keeping a lovely home — if that’s you, we’d love to hear from you!
Cheers,
Sasha and Ellie
