Description
My housemate is moving out of our two-person houseshare in Streatham Common, so I am looking for someone to live in this house I love.
About the room
The room is a large double bedroom and comes part-furnished – the bed and the chests of drawers are included. It has plenty of space for home working without feeling on top of yourself and is well lit also.
About the house
The property is two-bedroom, with a box room we currently use for storage – but if you had other potential uses for it, this could be worked out.
There is one bathroom, with both bath and shower.
There is a living room with two sofas, and a kitchen-dining room with a breakfast bar.
We also have a garden with furniture and barbecue, as well as beds around the side that I like to plant flowers in over the summer.
There is ample free street on the road.
My current housemate has a cat (sadly leaving with her), but the landlord is amenable to pets.
About the location
The property is in Streatham, a 5-minute walk from Streatham Common station and 15-20 minutes from Streatham station, with trains to London Victoria / Bridge and Blackfriars/Farringdon respectively. At the end of the road, there’s a bus stop which goes to Brixton.
The road is quiet with low traffic.
It’s a ten-minute walk to Streatham Common, and 15 to Tooting Common.
In terms of commodities nearby, there is a Lidl, big Sainsburys and a big Tesco within a 15-minute walk from the house.
Rent and move-in dates
The rent is £1,000pcm and is a year-long AST contract. There will be standard tenancy checks by the letting agent.
In terms of bills, my housemate and I currently pay £175 a month into a joint account which covers council tax, electricity, gas, water, broadband and TV licence. This is more than enough to cover bills, and having built up an excess we use this for either things we need in the house, flowers for the garden or things we do together out the house (drinks, show tickets, etc.) as well as plenty leftover after that in case of emergencies.
The room is available from mid-late November.
About me
I’m Anna, I’m 34 and I’ve lived here for three years. I work in the charity sector, and my hobbies include live music, yoga, going to the cinema, sewing, cooking, volunteering and watching non-league football. I work from home 3-4 days a week (although from the garden in the summer), but am typically out a few evenings a week and at weekends so would also give you your own space.
