Description
We’re looking for two new tenants to share our quiet 3-bedroom house in Surrey Quays.
The house is directly opposite Southwark Park, about a 2-minute walk from Surrey Quays overground, a 10-minute walk from Canada Water tube station, and a 5-minute walk from Tesco. We have a good-sized garden, a nice sized living room with open plan kitchen, and a shared bathroom.
The two available rooms are both upstairs at the back of the house. The larger room (£800 per month excluding bills) can comfortably fit a double bed, bedside cabinet, double wardrobe and a desk and chair. The smaller room (£744 excluding bills) fits a small double bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet, and a small desk. The bills vary but are approximately £150 a month for water, gas, electricity, council tax (band C), WiFi and TV license. All the bedrooms also have their own sinks which is handy when someone is in the bathroom, and you want to clean your teeth! The house also comes with extra storage in the form of two large cupboards in the hallway, a small shed, and a covered area to store bikes in the garden. The rooms themselves will have new furniture put in before you move in as the the old housemate’s furniture in the pictures will all be going, but you’re also welcome to bring your own.
I (Abi) and my dog (Quillo) are the current tenants. I work from home most of the time doing mental health research for a small London-based charity. I completed a PhD in developmental psychology last year, and am yet to figure out what to do with it! Quillo is 4 years old, and I adopted him from Spain in January 2022. He’s got several special needs, but you'd never know it! He is funny and gentle and kind, and just an absolute delight. He follows me around wherever I go, but he won’t be allowed in your rooms and he doesn't spend time in shared spaces without me. When you come round to visit, and when you first move in, Quillo may bark at you, but he will settle down as soon as he realises you live here, and he is otherwise very quiet.
We, and our neighbours, are very quiet, so it’s not a home to host parties in. Quillo and I like watching films and documentaries together whilst I do a cross-stitch and he judges me for being an 80-year-old trapped in a 32-year-old’s body! We also have a peaceful accord with our landlord who is lovely, but whom we prefer to leave us alone for the purposes of quiet enjoyment of life. This means we choose to do our own repairs whenever it is humanly possible, and we have the freedom to do what we like (within reason!) to decorate.
You’ll be signing a year’s tenancy, starting either on or before August 15th, although there’s some flexibility with the move in date. You will be asked for a credit check from our landlord before moving in, and five weeks rent for the deposit.
If you’d like to come for a viewing, I’ll do a video-call with you first so you can see the place/meet us before coming round in person. So do drop me a message with a little bit about you (age, job, whatever else you feel is relevant) and I’ll get back to you to arrange a video call as soon as I can 😊
