Description
My name is Lauren: I'm a 34-year old living in Surrey Docks / Rotherhithe with my cat Bagels. I am seeking a new housemate to share our home, as my friend is moving out to buy her own place.
The house is situated in zone 2 within walking distance to Surrey Quays (Overground) and Canada Water (Jubilee) stations. Both stations are served by Night Tube. CW is only 2 stops from London Bridge, and 4 from Waterloo; perfect for a morning commute. There are also buses to Central London and we are close to New Cross, Deptford, Peckham and Greenwich.
The house is within a secure gated courtyard and is split across two levels. The surrounding area is pretty quiet despite the relatively central location.
The room is a double and is offered unfurnished however my housemate is happy to leave the bed frame if preferred (you would just need to source a mattress.) The room also has a built in wardrobe and shelving unit.
There is additional storage space available throughout the flat: a couple large cupboards and a garage which you are more than welcome to use. The room currently has slightly old-fashioned decor - I’d be happy to ask the letting agent if this could be updated ahead of you moving in. I’ve lived in the flat since 2017 and have a really good relationship with our letting agent - they’re usually pretty good at handling repairs/upgrades in a timely manner.
We also have a small spare room - rather than letting this out, we’ve used this as a spare room when family/friends come to stay, but it has the capacity to be used as a second living room/study. All options that can be discussed with the new tenant.
The flat has a spacious living room and kitchen with a dining table. There is a desk in the living room which we use when working from home. I love plants, so we have quite a few throughout the house. We also have a garden with a patio and dining set - in the spring/summer I try to grow flowers and plants (although the weeds have overrun a bit over winter!)
The flat is a few mins walk from a Lidl supermarket and 24 hour off-license. We are minutes away from the high street and Surrey Quays shopping centre which is also home to a Tesco superstore. We are also close to Canada Water which is currently being developed into a new town centre.
I am a freelance scenic painter, so I usually work out of the house during the week, however I occasionally have some weeks where I’ll work from home to plan projects/catch up on admin. I usually go out to socialise with friends a few nights a week; at the weekends I sometimes meet friends for dinner or go on walks.
Bagels is an 11-year old tabby cat - he is very gentle, affectionate, and loves to watch tv with the rest of the flat but will take his own space when he wants it.
My ideal tenant is someone who loves cats, is clean and tidy and would be open to socialising when we’re home together - catching up on each others’ day over a cuppa or glass of wine, watching tv, having dinner etc.
Our current lease ends on 29th March, and I’m looking for someone who can commit to a minimum of 12 months. Bills are not included in the rent but are very reasonable. The flat is council tax band D. Full details can be shared at viewing.
Thanks for reading our advert, we look forward to hearing from you!
