Description
We have a double room available 14-20 June (flexible) in our beautiful 3 bed flat!
About the room:
A quiet, bright double bedroom at the back of the property, furnished with: bed/mattress, wardrobe, desk/chair, lamp. We have free rein to put pictures/shelves up in the flat, and the desk/chair/lamp can all be swapped out/free-cycled as you wish!
Flat:
We're on Sydenham high street with a very Brooklyn style entrance at the back; the shared kitchen/living space is big and light faces the high street; it's not super noisy, and does mean that the bedrooms get little to no noise from the road. We can often be found cooking together, catching up over meals/cups of tea/wine, sharing the space to read/relax, watch films etc.
Landlord:
We have a private landlord, South London based himself, and low-maintenance. Everything was new when we moved in a year ago, and any issues have been promptly addressed without fuss.
Bills:
Including council tax, water, electricity and wifi come to £86.88. We have metered pay as you go gas, and typically this is less than £30/pcm; so estimating £10/pcm each. Rent is £770 (with a recent increase), and we don't expect outrageous hikes in the future.
Visiting pets:
We don't have a full-time pet, but do occasionally look after a friend's cat (no more than 2-3 times per year, for maybe a week at a stretch); she spends most of her time sun-bathing in the kitchen/living space when she visits.
The area:
Sydenham - and the high st in particular - is truly lovely! There's a yoga studio with a vegan/vegetarian cafe attached, an independent book shop, crucially a LIDL, and a very nice local two mins walk away, plus other weird and wonderful Sydenham delights we're still discovering (e. g. a local community gardening group, social enterprise brewery, and excellent Borek café)
Transport wise, we're well served - we're on the Orange line (soon to be Windrush) so it's 10 mins to new cross (the station's a five min walk away) and 25ish to east - and we get Southern Rail as well so it's pretty easy into London Bridge etc.
About us:
We're in our late 20s/early 30s, female; one works in arts administration (Ellen) and one in academic research (Miri). A selection of interests between us include: food, books, theatre, vintage/thrifting, wild-swimming, crafts, walking/hiking, Scotland/Ireland, history, talking over films...
We also like the odd pint, and are big fans of our old-local haunts in the SE (Crystal Palace, Deptford, Peckham).
We each work from home maybe 2 days a week from the kitchen/living space (though do have desks in our rooms, so happily flex around meetings etc as needed if we're all wfh the same days).
***
To reiterate the cliches: we're sociable, busy people and we don't put pressure on each other to constantly hang out; that said, we're friends and we've made the flat a home, so we're not looking for a ships passing in the night vibe.
Ideally we'd love to find someone wanting to make Sydenham a longer term base; we have recently renewed the tenancy, and know that we can renew happily over the next 2-3 years (our landlord has confirmed this is the length left on his mortgage). However we are also very open to short term 2-3 month lets - please do ask, and if dates align, we'd be up for figuring something out.
If you like any of this relatively normal human stuff too, and want to be pals, we're easygoing and pretty easy to live with - don't be disgusting/mean/bigoted and we're probably good - so drop us a message!
