Description
Attic room for lodger to rent in family home with homeowner father, 15yo studious son and super friendly inconspicuous cat who won't mind being locked out of your room.
This loft room has been renovated after 10 year lodger moved out to live with his now pregnant girlfriend. We’ll miss him, but delighted for him too :)
Brand new carpets, freshly painted- no one has set foot in there with shoes on.
Bed arrives Friday 21st Nov- will update with photo.
The photos were taken today- watch for the 'fish eye' lens on a couple of them- they make it look HUGE, but I've included them so you can see the whole space, even if it's a little distorted.
Bills included: Everything, including a cleaner who will need access once a month to hoover & dust. She comes every 10 days to do the whole house, but alternates on the bedrooms.
Water, heating, electricity, gas, Fibre broadband over wifi and washing powder/ dishwasher tabs etc), council tax... all included. Nothing more to pay, at all.
It's a quiet, domestic home with a garden, beautiful spacious bathroom, all mod cons in the kitchen. Lots of wood, very tastefully decorated (I'm told).
The lodger’s attic room has a skylight, double bed and gas central heating which the lodger can operate at will, with reason ;)
I am also providing an iMac for your use (if you want it) which has a screen big enough to double as a TV.
Our expectations for room use are that you enjoy the loft room as your own, the bathroom and kitchen are shared.
The other spaces (living room & dining room) you are welcome to enjoy respectfully when we're not around, apologies in advance for the fact that they often have my computers, parts and other work things around! It's the nature of my work.
I'm afraid that having guests staying over won't be possible until we've all long settled into our living arrangement together, this is a medium / long term prospect and we can adjust things as we get to know each other.
Occasional respectful visitors absolutely welcome, the same rules apply to us.
I would hope that whoever moves in would be able to feed our cat when/if we’re away, too… so a cat lover would be a bonus!
Access via a narrow staircase up through a hatch. I'm afraid that if you have mobility issues this *may* be more tricky than you are willing to take on. But it's a staircase nonetheless.
We're very much open to all humans applying? Seems trite, but I'm comfortable with (and encourage) any gender, sexuality, religion, culture or genetic profile to enquire.
Us:
My son is in his GCSE year at secondary school.
I work from home, mostly, in IT. I used to be a primary teacher, changed career nearly 10 years ago leaving the nursery I was at. My son is at school and with me most of the rest of the time, but with his mum half of the school holidays. I stay at my partner's place 2/3 nights a week when my son isn't around so you'll have the place to yourself quite often.
I grew up in Dalston with Welsh father and Spanish mother, and after travelling the world have returned 'home' and am a happy and settled individual.
Hoping to find an open-minded person to join the household, hoping for longer term stays but we can start with a 3 month commitment and go from there.
