Description
Hello! We have a small but perfectly formed double room available from 5 September in our colourful, creative home in Tottenham Hale.
The room
The room is the smallest (and cheapest) in the house, but it’s a really lovely space. It's quiet, cool in summer and cosy during the colder months. There’s enough room for a double bed and desk, plus large built-in storage, so it works well for someone who works from home.
The room is technically unfurnished, although we may be able to provide some furniture from elsewhere in the house depending on what you need. You’re equally welcome to bring your own things and make the space feel like yours.
The room is for single occupancy only, so no couples please.
The house
The house is warm, colourful, plant-filled and well maintained, with a relaxed, eclectic and creative feel. We have:
A spacious shared lounge with big windows and plenty of natural light
A separate kitchen-diner with lots of room to cook and hang out
One shared bathroom and separate WC
Plenty of storage throughout the house
A leafy patio garden that’s great for BBQs, drinks and sunny afternoons
A shed with space for bikes
A cleaner every two weeks
The tenancy is officially unfurnished, but we’ve furnished and decorated the shared spaces ourselves over the years with a lot of love.
Smoking or vaping in the garden is fine, as long as everything is kept clean and tidy.
The house is well maintained, and we have a good relationship with the letting agents we rent through. They’re responsive and generally arrange repairs quickly whenever anything comes up. We’ve been renting the house through them for a long time (Saoirse has lived here for seven years), so there’s an established, positive relationship rather than the slightly chaotic landlord roulette you can sometimes get in London.
The housemates
You’d be joining three women in our 30s working across music, the arts and conservation, along with our sassy and friendly cat.
We enjoy hanging out together, catching up in the kitchen, watching films and having BBQs, but we all also have jobs, friendships and social lives outside the house. We’d love to find someone who enjoys being part of a household while also having their own thing going on.
It’s definitely a home rather than an anonymous house share, but there’s no expectation that everyone has to socialise constantly. We’re looking for someone conscientious, communicative and interested in contributing to the home we’ve built – someone who will treat the communal spaces with care and help keep the household running smoothly.
You’ll need to be comfortable living with a cat. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate any additional pets.
We’re left-leaning and the house is proudly queer-friendly and LGBTQ+ friendly. No SWERFs, TERFs or tories.
The area
We’re around a five-minute walk from Tottenham Hale station, with the Victoria line, Greater Anglia services and direct trains to Stansted Airport, making it very easy to get into central London or out of the city.
The nearby retail park has Lidl, B&M, B&Q, TK Maxx, Asda Living and Boots with a pharmacy, which is extremely convenient for groceries, homeware and picking up bits when you first move in. There’s also an Asda Express and Tesco Express by the station, plus a great independent shop with a coffee counter and lots of lovely ingredients.
We live right by the canal and Walthamstow Wetlands, so the area is ideal for anyone who likes running, cycling, walking or simply having a bit of nature nearby. You can get onto the canal paths very quickly, which makes the neighbourhood feel much greener and calmer than you might expect while still being brilliantly connected.
