Description
Thanks for stopping by my little advert! I'm hoping you are here because you are looking for a proper little home rather than somewhere to just rest your head at night. Currently looking for a single occupant, but may consider a couple...
THE AREA
I'm currently living in a beautiful detached house on the top of Sydenham Hill. It's a converted stables/garage that sits next to a gorgeous Victorian house that is split into four flats. On top of its own private grounds, we are right next to Dulwich Wood with lovely walks and pretty scenery. If that isn't enough outside space for you, we also share an enormous field of a garden with the main house which has a range of garden furniture, a swing and a little veg patch. It's a real little community here with a collection of families with dogs and kids - we all miraculously get on, and spend a good few summer nights doing shared barbecues and generally hanging out in the garden. There are four dogs on the property, so being a dog lover is a bit of a must! We all look out for each other and it's a really friendly place to live. There is also a gastro pub basically across the road, which is perfect rolling distance after you've guzzled a giant Sunday roast.
For such a leafy and quiet area, we are really well connected. In terms of transport, we are 7 mins walk from Sydenham Hill station which gets you into Victoria in under 20 mins. A change at Herne Hill sees you rocking up at Blackfriars in around 20 mins too. It's a 20 min walk to Gipsy Hill which is good for trains out towards Clapham Junction or Croydon. A bus stop is less than 2 mins walk down the road and there are regular buses into Sydenham (its less than ten mins down to Sydenham for the Overground), Crystal Palace, and Elephant and Castle. It is super easy to get into East Dulwich, Forest Hill, Honor Oak and surrounding areas.
In terms of the local area and amenities, there are lots of restaurants within easy reach in Sydenham, Crystal Palace and East Dulwich. Dulwich Park and Crystal Palace park are both easy to walk to, with Crystal Palace Park also boasting a great leisure centre in the middle, and a newly opened cafe. Towards Forest Hill there is the quirky and beautiful Horniman Museum and Gardens which is free to visit and has a lovely view over London, as well as a small holding and some lovely planted gardens.
THE HOUSE
This is a proper home! The house is a gorgeous south facing property with double glazing, lots of windows and all mod cons. Downstairs is an open plan living and kitchen area with gas hob, loads of cupboards, a dining table and the all important dishwasher. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer hidden away in a large cupboard. There is also a downstairs toilet with a bit of understairs storage. Stairs lead from the hallway upstairs where there are three "bedrooms". One is a good sized double with beautiful en suite, the other two are (if we are being kind) single rooms. All have lovely windows looking out onto the front garden, and the road is hidden from view by mature trees and hedging. There is off road parking should you need it, AND a garage, which is perfect for storage.
CURRENT OCCUPANTS
That'd be me :) I'm Freya and I am currently living in the property with my big fluffy bear dog Ludo. He's a golden retriever/German shepherd/labrador cross. He's got the best bits of all of them - he's super well trained, loving and affectionate, but also makes a great guard dog. He's three and a half. I'm considerably older, self employed and have a creative business and a studio over in New Cross. I like to come home and relax. It's definitely not a party house, but I do have the occasional dinner party. Mostly I like to use the house as a place to recharge, but I'm super happy to come home to a good chat and a glass of wine! Running a business takes up a lot of my time, but in my spare moments I love reading, photography, meeting friends, heading out into the countryside with Ludo and finding a good pub for lunch and a pint! I'm also a big fan of heading into the city to make the most of museums and art galleries.
SEARCHING FOR...
Ideally searching for someone who wants a house to call a home! I would potentially consider a couple with a slight adjustment in the rent. The main bedroom with en suite would be yours. It is imperative that you are happy to share your space with a largish dog (bedroom can be off limits though!). Looking for a relatively quiet housemate who is happy to get involved with the little community here, but who also enjoys their own space. Plus all the usual - kind and considerate, relatively tidy etc. Other than that I am just happy to meet someone who feel as lucky as I do to live in such a great place!
