Description

The description has been written by both the outgoing lodger (Issey) and the remaining lodger (Shradha)... These are their own words...

Hi, my name is Issey and I sadly I will be moving out of the gorgeous Darwin Cottage after finishing my studies in London. Living with Shradha has felt like a home away from home, and I could not have asked for a more caring and loving friend. Diana, the landlord has created a lovely space, that feels comfortable and homely. Diana, has been the most caring and attentive landlord, always taking care of me and Darwin.

I have the room upstairs with the large en-suite. It has the largest bath I have ever encountered, which can be enjoyed surrounded by candles and a glass of wine. The room is quiet and has lots of storage space, hanging and drawers, as well as a large amount of storage in the bathroom.

It is so rare to be living in such a large space in London. I have enjoyed studying and hosting dinners in the gorgeous conservatory that brings in an abundance of natural light. There is a beautiful spiral staircase that leads up to a secluded terrace, and it is perfect for drinks in the summer.

Shradha has been the most amazing person to share the space with. We have enjoyed sharing our specialty meals with each other (Shradha is an amazing cook). It has been very important to both of us that the house is kept clean and tidy after each of us using the space, and sharing house duties between ourselves equally. We have both enjoyed this house to cook, and relax, making it a pleasant space.

The area is incredibly convenient with transport links, close to the Elizabeth Line and Overground, with many bus stations close by. There are many shops near, and two corner shops a stones throw away. I will miss Darwin Cottage so much, it has really felt like a tranquil home, which has been made by Diana and living with Shradha.

My name is Shradha. It has been a lovely experience being Issey’s housemate. I have been lucky to share with such a young, wise, beautiful, and ambitious girl, teaching me so many new dishes to cook 😁.

About myself (your potential future housemate), I have worked for years in the field of communications before I pursued a career break and recently completed a year long Master's course in Diplomacy and Governance. I am currently working 8 to 5.

I quite enjoy exploring, though at my own pace with my given energy. I love my peace and calm, and Darwin Cottage is bliss for people like me 😂. It is not a party house but a warm cosy paradise that you love to come back to, knackered at the end of the day. I respect everyone's space and expect the same. Doesn't mean I am grumpy. I love to chat and connect but I am not loud or nosy either. I prefer us opening up naturally and build an authentic bond.

One of the most integral parts of being at Darwin's is our landlady Diana! She is intelligent, strong, aware and loving. You will know what I mean once you meet her. Cleanliness and hygiene have always been of utmost importance and the way Diana has managed this house, I have upped myself to new benchmarks altogether 😂. We keep the house well organised together and sometimes even make it special with fresh flowers and incense sticks.

We try to manage it as if it is our own home. We clean the communal areas in turns. We wash and dry the dishes immediately after we use the kitchen and make sure to leave it clean for the other. We communicate regularly to avoid any time clash or if anyone is going out of town or coming home late. Primarily, we prioritise each other's comfort and safety and never take the other or the house for granted.

While I will miss having Issey around and miss our conversations on food, politics, London, her hugs, her smile and her kindness, I am also happily looking forward to a new bond and friendship.

And me Diana...

A really lovely double room in a three bedroom Victorian house. The room on offer comes fully furnished and the en-suite has a large bath with recessed overhead shower. Looking for an equally lovely person to move in and enjoy it.

Shared sitting room; fitted kitchen; dining room; patio garden and roof terrace.

Less than a 10 minute walk to either Forest Gate (Elizabeth Line) or Wanstead Park (London Overground) Stations; and less than a 2 minute walk to Wanstead Flats.
