Description

The accommodation comprises a bed-sitting room with a small kitchen area and a bathroom (toilet, basin and shower) created by a professional loft conversion in 2010. It is light and airy and has windows to the south, west and north. It is on the second floor of a double-fronted Victorian house in a quiet, tree-lined road in West Norwood which is between Dulwich, Brixton, Streatham and Crystal Palace.

The area is currently seeing a resurgence with much improvement of properties and new delis, cafes, restaurants, bakeries etc. A local authority leisure centre (pool, health club etc.) opened in 2014 and there is also a multiscreen Picturehouse cinema and library, and other new amenities close-by; much is going on locally. Several large parks are within easy walking and running distance. Coming out of the house, one can go right to Dulwich Village or left to more cosmopolitan West Norwood.

Access is by way of the front door of the family house and the accommodation itself is self-contained and private. It is carpeted and fully furnished with a queen-sized bed and a sofa that can be opened up into a double bed, chairs, table, chest of drawers and clothes rack and the kitchen area has a fridge, small oven and sink. There is plenty of storage space.

The accommodation is £1000 per calendar month, payable in advance, and this includes all bills (heating, hot water, electricity, broadband, and Council Tax) and reasonable use of the washing machine in the ground floor kitchen of the house. A deposit of £500 would also be expected. A licence agreement would be signed between the owners of the house and the occupant, normally for an initial six-months, renewable by agreement.

West Norwood is well situated for public transport, particularly into and out of central London; there are frequent buses and overground trains (West Norwood, Tulse Hill and West Dulwich stations are all about a ten minute walk) and several different buses go from the end of Chestnut Road to Brixton tube station which is on the Victoria Line, also to Euston past Kings College Hospital, LSE etc. There is ample free car parking in Chestnut Road itself.

We're a retired couple with a cat who have been renting our spare rooms for over 15 years; our lodgers tend to be long-term as it's a friendly and peaceful household. The other four in the household share the ground floor kitchen; the flatlet tenant will have their own kitchen and bathroom and live more independently, We're still looking for someone considerate and friendly who takes good care of the premises.
