Description
Hi! I’m Audrey. I’m a tenant in a bright and lovely, well maintained terraced house on a quiet street in Wood Green, N22, where I live with two sweet and silly cats. Two rooms are now available, so I’m looking for one or two queer-friendly, cat-loving people to rent the house with me!
For one new housemate, you would get both rooms - one for your bedroom, and the other as your office, art studio, personal living room… anything you like. This would be my preferred arrangement. But I’m also open to having two housemates, in which case you could have a room each, or share a bedroom and similarly do what you want with the other room.
About me: I’m a nerdy queer woman in her 40s who likes books, record collecting, history, urban walking, cinema, board games, and puzzles, plus computer gaming but mainly just when there’s someone else to play with. If you’re a similar kind of nerd, we’ll probably get on like a house on fire!
Unfortunately I can’t accept anyone with a dog… the boys would never let me hear the end of it. It’s possible that you could bring your own cat, if it’s not a big rough’n’tumble tomcat who needs to be exclusively in charge of some territory. They would also need to be an indoor cat - I don’t let these guys roam outside, so we can’t leave doors and windows open for an outdoor cat to come and go.

= What’s in the house =
Ground floor
On offer: front room, 3.2m wide by 3.85m (plus 1.15m bay window - effectively 5m) long. To use as you like: office, living room, storage…. Lockable
Shared living/dining room with French window to garden, white wall we use as a projector screen
Galley kitchen with door to garden. Electric oven/hob, washing machine
Big garden (with lots of potential, if you enjoy gardening that would be a big plus!) and spacious patio
First floor
On offer: front bedroom, same dimensions as front room below. Unfurnished, but can chat if you need things as there may be some spare. Also lockable
Rear bedroom, mine, and small front room which I use as my home office
Shared bathroom, with bath, handheld shower and rain shower, sink, and toilet
The house is located in the Scotch Estate, a small group of residential streets off the side of a side road. There’s basically zero traffic directly outside the house and it’s very quiet. The neighbours on each side are families.
Accessibility: there’s one step up when you come in from the street. It’s fifteen steps up to the first floor where the bathroom (toilet) is. One step down when going out to the rear patio, then two more to ground level in the garden. Front door has a doorbell but no phone entry system. It’s a smoke-free home.
Internet: We have 1 Gb/s fibre broadband. In the ground floor front room where the router is you usually get 700+ Mb/s on wifi, and in the bedroom above 400+ Mb/s. I’m planning to run cabling upstairs to max out the speed too.
= Local shopping =
Walking time to nearest food shops: corner shop, 5 min, Tesco Express and several Turkish mini supermarkets, 7 min, Nisa Local (better range than Tesco, open late on Sunday), 12 min.
A 12 min walk gets you to Wood Green High Road, a large shopping street with basically everything including huge shops like Primark and TK Maxx, the large supermarkets, a mall, two cinemas, all the fast food, countless restaurants, etc. Several chi-chi neighbourhoods with nice shopping areas are 15-30 minutes away by bus.
= Transport =
Tube and rail: Wood Green Station is on the Piccadilly line in Zone 3 and located on the High Road, 12 minutes' walk away. From there you can go 3 stops to Finsbury Park for a fast route to central London on the Victoria line, or change to the Overground, Thameslink, and Great Northern lines. Alexandra Palace Station on Thameslink is also about a 9 minute bike ride (1.9km / 1.2mi) away.
Buses: The area is well served by buses, including two “get me home after a night out in central London” routes.
Cycling: There’s a Bikehangar on a street nearby, where you can rent a space to store your bike. It’s more convenient than bringing it through the house to the back garden.
