Description

NOTE: please note this property doesn't have 7 bedrooms like it states. Spare room decided this by itself and won't let me change it. There's actually 2.

Im David, I'm 35 and living alone. I have myself this quirky and fun little retreat in Princes Park. The house is quite secluded with just a handful of really awesome neighbours. But it's also only 10 minutes to Tesco and 20 to Lark Lane on foot, and 20 minutes public transport into town, or short walks to St Michael's / Brunswick Merseyrail, or Edge Lane mainline.

I am essentially looking for a lodger who can be good company but also respect my need for privacy other times. I work in the creative industries and also study at the Open University so I am quite busy but also value a nice home life where i think a second person could be really good for the vibes.

I'd really like somebody who is clean and relatively quiet who will enjoy maybe getting dinner together, enjoying a glass of wine or whiskey together after work, talking into the evening, maybe a board game or something. It wouldn't suit somebody who would want to have friends over regularly or be regularly coming in drunk at 3am and making dinner (no bad feelings, been there too, just not anymore).

I think the place would really suit somebody creative, free spirit, open minded... Who would enjoy a little hideaway in the woods with really cool neighbours and new friends. Internally and in the area it has quite bohemian vibes and the decor takes a lot of inspiration from canal boats, except with the addition of being bathed in natural daylight from skylights in most rooms. It's a little rough around the edges and might not suit somebody seeking the polished sterility of an inner city new build apartment, but would be great for somebody who yearns an unobstructed view of the rising sun and the stars at night, with the sounds only of birdsong in the background. If you're up for chopping firewood in the garden that's even better.

All this aside, we will still be equipped for modern life with very fast Internet, smart TV, etc and all appliances. For those needing to work or study from home I can give you a desk in my study. If you need to drive, I can offer a parking space. If you ride a bicycle I can offer a spot in a secure bike locker. If you just walk (like me), there's plenty of options too.

The bedroom will include a nice double sleigh bed with a high quality hotel style mattress; a dresser, clothes rail and cupboard. It has gas central heating and an open fireplace. It has a large window with views over Princes Park and a velux skylight.

Hoping for £450-500 ish including bills but most important is finding the right person. I am looking for somebody who will become a friend as well as a lodger. I think if you work from home then I would want to increase that slightly just to cover the additional bills from being at home all the time but we can play it by ear. At the moment I'm looking for probably maximum 6 months rather than permanent arrangements but if somebody really good came along then there could well be room to change that.
