Description
Hi
I have one room available for a student, preferably a postgraduate visiting Liverpool for a shorter time-period.
The main room is offered from the end of December for a postgraduate or more mature student. Please do not apply unless you’re a student, looking for a room for 3-12 months, even though I can be flexible for the right person. The house is shared with a 30yo female architecture student from France, and me the landlord but I will be away for parts of the next year. The existing student is also moving out at the end of the semester in late December, so it’s likely that you will have the place to yourself some of the time.
I have a nice, bright double room available in my three bedroom terrace, close to shops, amenities, and the university. I actually have two rooms available because from September the existing housemate will move away, although I'm not listing that room yet. However, if you and a friend need rooms, then please contact me.
Ideally I would like a postgraduate or visiting student, because I am exempt from council tax as I’m currently a masters student at the University of Liverpool and soon to go on to further study. If we rent with another student, then the property remains exempt from council tax. I am also employed as a writer, and will be spending chunks of the next year away, so the house will be quiet much of the time, which is why I would like someone cool and responsible, to not wreck the place or leave it insecure. The bills are pretty minimal, so I’ll just include them under the rental price. Undergraduates would be welcome too, but the house isn’t a big student share house, so it may or may not be the type of university experience you’re looking for, it depends on what your preferences are.
The house itself is a three bedroom terrace, so it has two double rooms and a small room that I use for storage and for drying clothes. It has two living rooms, one with a couch, fireplace and heaps of vinyl records alongside a nice hifi. The other living room I use as a bit of a study and work room and can act as a living room when I’m not in Liverpool.
The bedroom comes with a double bed and new mattress, cupboard space and with a clothes rack if you need it. You’d have to provide sheets and pillows etc. I have a desk here too if you need one, and lamps etc.
There’s also a bathroom with the slight caveat that there’s only a bath with a showerhead, so you can take a bath and wash your hair, but there’s no stand-up shower. This isn’t much of a problem for me because I go to the gym and pool most days so take a shower there, and take baths the rest of the time. Keep not getting round to ripping the bathroom out to put a walk-in shower in because I quite like it as it is.
There’s also a kitchen with the usuals of cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and heaps of pots and pans, so not much needed. Washing machine too. There’s also a nice back yard with little trees and plants, and seating. Smokers will have to smoke in the yard, not in the house, if any ever come over. I also tend to eat vegan/vegetarian, and there’s no extractor fan in the kitchen, so would prefer that the housemate didn’t cook hugely meaty smelly meals because the smell tends to stay in the house for a day or two, but I’m very keen if you’re a cook.
I’ve kept the price reasonable because I want the right person on the right terms, and like I said, they basically have to be a student for reasons of council tax. The house next door is also students, and the street is small and quiet. It’s less than ten minutes cycle to the Universities in the Knowledge Quarter, with on-street parking, and I have a car too, even though I cycle in to uni every day. There’s also a Lidl and big shops nearby, which makes the area pretty handy and convenient.
There’s also superfast fibre broadband, around 250Mbps.
I’m a fairly good judge of character and who I’m likely to get on with, so I don’t need a whole heap of references and hassle because I don’t really have the time to go through them, but I’m fine to write out a contract and keep the terms simple.
Any questions, please just ask!
