Description
The Gorsehill housing cooperative is a beautiful six bedroom house in New Brighton, opposite the Gorsehill Water Tower. We are a five minute walk away from New Brighton train station, and ten minutes from the longest seaside promenade in Britain. By car, we are 20 minutes away from Liverpool, 35 minutes from Chester and an hour from Manchester.
Our house is here to enable the proper flourishing of being. Or at least to live in harmony as well as we can given the strictures of a monetary economy that relies on some of us owning things the rest of us cannot, and we have to go out to work and sometimes leave the kitchen in a mess.
We are already doing something by forming a cooperative. We want to grow as much food as we can. We want to devote spaces in our house to ceremony and music. We want to feed each other. We want to participate in the community to fully benefit from being part of a larger social structure. But usually we sit alone in our rooms and watch Netflix.
Bills, including council tax, are included in the rent.
Under our constitution, all residents of the house are members of the cooperative, and have the right to vote in cooperative meetings to decide house policy.
