Description
This is for 2 weeks or so - with the possibility of extension- in a small room with a double bed in a shared flat beginning in mid March to early April. The situation we are looking for is a short-term tenant who is currently looking for permanent accommodation.
We’re a mature (40s) couple living in a clean, quiet, modern flat looking to host an international/new to town postgraduate student or professional temporarily whilst they seek permanent accommodation. It’s preferable for us to have someone close to our own age range but not a deal-breaker; no couples or pets also due to space constraints and allergies, respectively, soz!
I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find a room/flat after moving to town/accepting a job offer, so I’m here to help!
Two weeks to start with the potential to extend on a week to week basis through the end of April or May, is what is being offered. If our arrangement is a good fit, and you’ve not yet found permanent accommodation, then we will revisit and offer an additional week/s based on how well we get on.
This is a small bedroom (not en-suite, but you’ll have your own bathroom down the hall) on the first floor of a new-build flat. There is a lift, so it’s completely accessible. You’ll have access to kitchen cooking facilities and space for your own groceries. Bills are included in the rent and we aren’t asking for a deposit, just each week paid upfront.
The flat is in a quiet family-oriented/working class neighbourhood, with excellent access to very nearby bus stops that take you to the city centre in ~30 minutes. There is also a cycle path right behind that flat that takes you straight to Leith or Haymarket. Plenty of shops are close by.
We’re both international (myself a recent MSc grad), very open minded, alt-type of people, disability/neurodivergent/minority/queer friendly, and pretty quiet but can get chatty if one of our special interests is brought up. We don’t party and absolutely don’t want any partiers (or party guests brought home), but enjoy the after work beer or cocktail. Smoking isn’t allowed inside (you can certainly smoke outside as long as you pick up the cigarette ends) but vaping is fine. Someone with common interests would be ideal but not an imperative- we both like history, horror films, punk and metal music, hiking/the outdoors, museums, reading, and trying new international cuisines.
We will have a subletting document for you and ourselves to sign that outlines our expectations for living here (regarding things like cleanliness, safety, rental terms, etc) so please bear that in mind.
