Description
About you: I'm looking for a postgraduate student or a professional as my housemate is returning home overseas. Short-term tenancies for a semester for undergraduate or postgraduate Erasmus students are OK. No work from home, please. The room is for one person only; no couples please. There is strictly no smoking or drug use allowed. No parties and no pets, please.
I will schedule in-person viewings for January 11th and 12th.
About me: I’m an Australian/French nurse who works both day and night shifts and am looking for a housemate to rent the other bedroom in my flat. The flat is in great shape and has been recently done up. I love living here. When I’m not working, I like learning new things, going for a run or a walk, and exploring the city.
The room: The room is large and has a bed with a very comfortable mattress, a closet, a desk and chair, and a chest of drawers. There is bedding and towels available if you need them. There is everything you need in the kitchen to cook. There is a nice living and dining room area.
There is one bathroom in the flat that we will share.
Bills are included, except for council tax, if you are not a student. It is council tax Band A. There is also good wireless internet throughout the flat.
There is a bike rack outside of the building. If you have a car, you can apply for a parking permit.
Local shops and facilities are useful.
You have Tesco Express and Maycheelin, a cute Asian grocery store, across the street.
You have Holyrood Park in the back yard. It’s awesome. There are walking trails. There is Arthur’s Seat and an amazing view of the city.
You have Levels Café 5 minutes up the road. It is an inexpensive place that anyone can go and work and that has inexpensive meals.
You are a 15-minute walk from Waverley Train Station, and busses to take you most places in Edinburgh.
You are close to the Royal Mile, Scottish Parliament, the Science Museum, and Holyrood Palace, without being in the middle of the tourists.
There are heaps of bars, cafes and restaurants nearby (but far enough away that there isn’t noise).
The location is central, very close to scenic and cultural amenities. There is the Scottish Parliament, the Holyrood Palace and Holyrood Park within 5 minutes. You are on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Old Town with the Royal Mile including the Queen's church and 16th century buildings are a 7-to-10-minute walk away.
If you are student, the University of Edinburgh is super close.
You are within walking distance to most of the downtown and Holyrood campus.
There are full study facilities for any University of Edinburgh student (computers, internet, printers, copiers, full-subject library, inter-library loans) 5 minutes away at Moray House College library.
The uni pool is 100 metres away and the gym and societies building are up the road. The main campus is a 10 to 15 minute walk away, depending on the building you are going to.
Everything else that you might want in Edinburgh is quite close. Princes Street, Grassmarket, the central station and St James Shopping Centre are about 15 to 20 minutes away on foot. You can walk to most of the city's attractions. You won't run out of things to do and explore.
