Low cost accommodation in Edinburgh WH4

An intelligent, educated and older gentleman is seeking a Helpful Housemate for his home to give him 5 hours’ help each week in their spare time in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This support/companionship would primarily be helping the gentleman with writing projects and organizing his book collection. The Helpful Housemate is also requested to keep their bedroom clean and tidy, and leave any communal areas such as the bathroom and kitchen clean and tidy after use.

He will also have a ‘Homesharer’ living in the property.

The accommodation on offer is a furnished single bedroom (bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and chair), and shared use of the main bathroom, kitchen, living space and garden.

The property is in the lovely Georgian area of Stockbridge on the north side of Edinburgh, just over ½ mile from George Street (10-15 minutes’ walk).

A retired journalist, the gentleman has a wide range of interests including keeping up with the news and current affairs, doing crosswords, listening to the radio (BBC Radio 4, 3 and 5), watching TV – current affairs, documentaries, sports, comedy and quizzes, local walks or visiting the castle, going to a show at the Fringe or to an art exhibition… and interesting conversation. He enjoys company, is easy-to-talk-to, has a good sense of humour, and is used to sharing his home.

Helpful Housemates usually work or study and have a few spare hours each week to offer a light hand to their Host. The ideal Helpful Housemate will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker. This may suit a student of journalism or non-fiction writing.
