Description
Hello there. I am Onur, a PhD student in the last year of his PhD and I am looking for a roommate for the spare room of my 2 bedroom flat. The person who will get in must be a student of the University of Edinburgh, I cannot respond to any other requests because this is an formal requirement. Secondly, being a PhD student will be a very important factor.
The house is one of the houses that the University rents to students, so the price is relatively affordable. I list the positives and negatives below.
Cons.
It is quite an old apartment and flat.
Not double glazed, but the heating is good.
The kitchen has little light.
The bathroom is small.
Pros.
If you are in the central campus it is very close to the university, about 4-5 minutes on walking.
Kings Building is 25-30 minutes on foot but on the free shuttle route.
If you like coffee this house is heaven for you because I have enough coffee equipment in the kitchen to open a cafe...
Once you are in the house you can continue to live here with a 5% annual raise until the end of your studies if you want.
There is a storage room separate from the rooms and the kitchen, we use it for laundry but you can also put your belongings.
It is a very quiet neighborhood.
I am generally a chatty person, but as I am in the last year of my PhD, I think I will be quite busy. However, it is very important that you respect silence in the house. This is not a party house and it is very important that you behave accordingly (which is why I want as many PhD students as possible). I don't have a problem with guests as long as they don't stay for a long time. However, I would appreciate it if you keep in mind that ultimately this is a house for 2 people. If there are no surprises, I will leave the house next summer, then you can take my bigger room and leave the other room for a friend of your choice :) I know the room looks small, but that's because a double bed was put in a single room. When you visit you will see that it is bigger than in the photo.
You can send me a message for details. After August 20th I will be in Edinburgh and we can meet in person. The person who will take the room will have to take the lease from September 2, but since the university collects the annual rent in 10 installments, you will not pay rent in September and August. Instead, more rent will be paid for 10 months. The rent is 550 pounds per month and the monthly bills are about 50 pounds including internet. You don't need to pay any deposit or provide a guarantor.
We can discuss these other issues in detail when you visit the flat.
Ps. If you don’t have a premium account, then you can send an e-mail to my university account. I believe I am the only Onur there, just search my name :)
