Homeshare Available in Edinburgh

David, an outgoing and friendly chap, is seeking a Sharer for his home to give him a mix of 10 hours of help and company each week in exchange for low-cost accommodation in his house.

The property is a fully furnished 3-bedroom basement garden flat located in the Comely Bank area of Edinburgh, neighbouring Stockbridge and the New Town. The shared areas include a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a flower-filled garden accessed from the living room. Facilities include Wi-Fi, dishwasher, washing machine, TV, storage cupboards and on-street parking. There is a large and leafy private park opposite that David has keys for.

There are two bedrooms available to choose from, which are furnished and have south-facing windows (both photographed). David has a friendly dog and cat and also expects to have a male student moving into the 3rd bedroom in June.

It is a 20 minute walk to the centre of town or a 15 minute walk to the cafes, bars, restaurants, fashion shops and supermarkets of Stockbridge. Main route public transport links are also available within a 5 minute walk in either direction.

David is in his 60’s, is friendly, mobile, fit and healthy. He is a volunteer at the nearby Lifecare Centre; he enjoys taking his dog Alfie for 3 walks a day, and he also likes to be out and about and watch the cricket at Stockbridge. He does have a heart condition and ADHD Hypermania (which can elevate mood and energy), which he takes treatment for.

David is mainly looking for companionship, someone to chat to, someone who likes to cook and would be willing to share some meals and someone who could dog-sit Alfie (a golden retriever) and his cat when he is away visiting his sister for one week every 2 months or so. Taking care of Alfie involves feeding breakfast and dinner and 3x 20-minute walks a day for the week that David would be away every 2 months.

David would welcome someone who is social, either male or female, with a dog or cat, and would be happy with a smoker (but smoking outside only). Someone who enjoys cooking would be a big bonus and obviously, an animal lover.
