Description
Hello,
My housemate is moving up North on an adventure so her room is available from March 21st.
The first floor flat is situated on Morningside road near the M&S. The bedrooms face the garden so there's lots of birdsong. One of the building tenants looks after the garden and there are lots of flowers, some trees and seating. It's always quiet out there.
The room comes with all furniture pictured and there is scope to change some of it if you would like.
The living room faces Morningside road which is busy but lovely to hear the bustle below when the windows are open and quiet when the windows are closed. It's double glazing throughout and gas central heating.
There is extra storage above the bathroom which is fun (read: tricky) to get into but fits a good few boxes/suitcases and is doable with two people. There is a good sized fridge freezer and good storage for food.
We both moved in in October and bills (gas and electricity combined) have been £60 each/month. The insulation seems decent, we haven't found it drafty.
The landlords live around the corner and have been prompt in responding, respectful and considerate. They deal with any smaller issues they can themselves and are quick to get someone in for bigger problems. For example, the oven broke a few months ago and they got us an air fryer while the new one arrived. They have had the flat for many years.
Council tax band C £80.14/month each for 2025/2026.
Wifi £14/month each.
Parking permit about £130/year if needed.
The flat is a rental and we have made some changes since we've been here. I'm keen to make some more so if you are up for that it would be lovely to work together and find what feels good for us and our home. Also if you want to get other furniture for your room happy to help you with the heavy lifting. Grateful it's only first floor. The landlord needs furniture left for the next tenants so it would be good to check with them if you plan to get something new and leave it or replace it etc.
I'd like to live with someone who wants to make the flat their home so a longer term let. I've been in Edinburgh for about 4 years, have a job I love nearby and love the city. I love cooking, I'm interested in understanding the world and our place in it from a spiritual place - there's so much out there I'm yet to understand. I practice yoga regularly in a local studio and I'm currently learning to sew and can'i wait to make my own clothes. I work weekdays in healthcare, rarely WFH but I'm up early weekdays and weekends.
The energy of the house is really important. Taking responsibility for our ourselves and our home is integral. It's not a party house but it will be your home so please have people over, dinner parties etc. The dining/living room is separated from the bedrooms by the kitchen too so it feels like a separate space. I don't drink but enjoy a glass of wine at occasional events. I prefer working with herbs and relish a really good coffee. I am also coeliac so bonus points for both of us if you can't digest gluten.
Reach out with any questions.
