A friendly elderly person with poor memory and reduced mobility is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person would value the friendly reassurance of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. They have the support of regular carers and a weekly cleaner, but as well as some company would also like some practical help with tasks such as picking up shopping, cooking a few fresh meals each week, help with changing the bed and doing laundry, prompts and reminders and ad hoc other practical help as might be useful.

The accommodation on offer is a spacious double bedroom with own toilet, and shared use of the shower room, kitchen, sitting room and garden. There is also a separate room that could house a desk for someone who worked from home.

The property is 1.2 miles from Musselburgh Station (15 minutes’ bus) and 5 miles from Edinburgh Waverley Station (30 minutes’ bus) and 8 minutes’ walk from Musselburgh Beach.

The person would enjoy the company of a Sharer who is chatty and friendly and fun to be around. He enjoys playing games (card games and board games), watching sport and mystery programmes, and going on car trips and other outings with company. He likes dogs and a family member’s dog sometimes visits.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who ideally shares some of the person’s interests. Someone who works from home some days would be ideal.
