Description
Hello! My current flatmate is moving out of their double room on the 15th December, so I'm looking for a new friend to move in anytime between the 16th and the 1st January. If you move in before the 1st Jan then you will need to pay that portion of the month's rent to the outgoing tenant.
About the flat: located on Pleasance, pretty much in the middle of Newington. Currently we pay around £670 each a month for rent and bills, council tax Band B. There's a £475 deposit, secured by Letting Protection Services Scotland. The rent is currently £540 p/m each, but will be increasing from the 1st February to £579.58. The flat gets lots of natural light, has lovely wooden floors, and a huge, private back green shared with surrounding tenements. 5 min walk away from Holyrood Park and George Square, University of Edinburgh, and 10 mins from the city centre.
About me: 33 year old professional working at the University of Edinburgh. Easy-going, animal lover extraordinaire, music and book fanatic. I’m clean and conscientious, respectful of people’s space, and non-judgmental. Not a party animal (anymore) but sociable and enjoy the odd night in the pub or having friends round for a chill evening in and a film. I love to cook (and eat, obvs), walk, sleep in, watch crap TV dramas, and sing along poorly yet enthusiastically to 80s pop anthems. LGBTQ+. I have a two year old cat called Max who is very friendly, albeit a bit of a furry menace.
About you: I’m looking for someone who is calm, mature, tidy, respectful of other’s space, and happy to contribute to chores and flat admin. It’s really important to me that you are able to communicate openly, especially regarding any flat issues that may arise. I would prefer another professional, but will consider PhD students on the understanding that we will still split the council tax. You do your own thing but also like to spend time in the flat socialising together. Bonus points if you'll watch Taskmaster with me. Ideally, a woman who is 30-40 and looking for a longer term stay (at least a year). Don't mind if you smoke on the understanding you won't do so in the flat. Animal lover a must as I need to trust leaving Max in your care when/if I'm away. Vegetarian preferred but not essential.
