Description
Hello, double room with excellent storage space, overlooking gardens, for rent in friendly, happy house share.
The house has a fresh feeling is snug and cosy, South facing. Downstairs is my room and also a little WC and the kitchen/livingroom. The kitchen is red with a bright stripy floor, open plan to a calm living room area. There's a sun-drenched sunroom (err supposing there is sun.. not been much the past week or so) and little wild garden full of birds and, in the Summer, happy bees.
There is free parking and the house is located in a calm friendly courtyard, where neighbours greet each other. It's away from the road, so no rush of traffic outside. I have lived here over 5 years and I still sometimes just pause and notice "wow it is so quiet and calm."
The kitchen is well stocked with pot and pans etc. The washing machine and fridgefreezer are large and spacious. There is no microwave and also no TV in the living room, it's not really a TV focussed house. There are two loos and one additional shared bathroom, with good electric shower and a bath.
The beach is 2 mins walk one direction, the bus into centre of Edinburgh 2 mins walk the other direction. There are loads of buses and it takes 15 - 20 mins to get to the very centre of town. The busses go to all parts of Edinburgh.
All bills are included in rent, that means ALL bills and includes cleaning products/materials and loo roll (I buy bulk so that I can buy eco friendly and there is not the bore of running out of loo roll or kitchen towel etc).
Portobello is a lovely place, it has a great swimming pool and gym 6 mins walk away from the house, loads of cafes, pubs, restaurants, independent shops, Co-op super market.
There are lots of community things going on: a farmers market, all sorts of musical groups and sports/yoga/rowing/wild swimming groups/folks kitesurfing, spiritual things and artistic things. People are friendly and relaxed and smiley.
As for me... I work running my own business leading movement/dance, cook for retreats and small festivals. I have lived in many countries and done all sorts of things, both conventional and unconventional. I am practical, happy, friendly and busy with my life, which I really enjoy. I have shared flats and houses for many years and I enjoy sharing with folks. I speak English, French, German and have Portuguese lurking around in the back of my head, from years ago, so happy to live with people speaking other languages.
If all of this sounds like the kind of place that you would like to call home come and have a hello and a look round.
Cheers, Aileen
PS This house is not going to be a good fit for you if you are: in a phase of serious partying, or if you are in a phase of bringing people home for hook ups and short term romances, or if you are in a time of despair and despondency, or deep anger at the world, (sorry for not being very inclusive here, but for me home is a place of feeling happy and content, easy and easeful. A lot of things are fraught at the moment, at least home can feel life a place to be at ease and cosy. I have shared all my adult life and I really enjoy how in a house share there is that mix of friendliness and independent spaciousness.
