Description
Hi everyone !
Looking for a female housemate of a similar age and interests to join me in my double upper Stockbridge colonies flat.
Move in date: flexible from start September.
Rent: £750/month excl. bills. Bills vary from £170-£200.
The room is fairly small but has a lovely built in desk and cupboard, wardrobe, full length mirror and fabulous view over the colonies from the window. Under bed space for storage and storage available in the attic too.
The whole flat is very well presented, having been fully painted and new carpets put in when I moved in in 2022. The bathroom is lovely, with a fabulous high pressure shower and under floor heating too. Flat stays very warm in the winter. I’m in the process of getting double glazing added and having the exterior painted too.
The location is amazing, in the highly desirable Stockbridge colonies surrounded by beautiful nature and still a very short walk to the middle of town. I have a shed where you could store a bike and a lovely little garden with a few sunloungers so you’re welcome to hang out in there too.
A bit about me: I’m 29, and working in climate change policy. I’ve lived in Edinburgh for 10 years now- I came here from Manchester to study in 2015 and loved it so much I wanted to stay. I bought the flat in 2022 and have had 2.5 years with my amazing current flatmate but very sadly she’s moving on. I’ve lived in various flat shares for the past 9 years so have a lot of experience sharing space.
I am very into fitness and the outdoors- wild swimming, surfing, yoga, cycling, and running. I also love cooking, baking, reading, and a copious amount of TV bingeing.
I’m very open minded and left wing (no tories pls 🥲) chatty and sociable but also need my own time and space to decompress. I’m very passionate about human rights and the climate crisis. I work hybrid and tend to be in the office 3-4 days a week.
What I’m looking for in a flatmate:
- a female flatmate of a similar age to me
- Working (non student)
- Someone who’s up for being friends as well as flatmates. I’ve lived in various flatshares and the best situations are where you can work really well as both.
- Someone who’s looking to stay in the flat long term (ideally 2 + years, if we vibe well of course). Appreciate life plans can change quickly - so you of course don’t have to commit to that amount of time, just ideally it would be your approx idea of plans currently.
- someone who is VERY neat, clean and tidy, communally minded and who pitches in with all housework- proactively without having to be asked to. I like to keep my home very clean and I need someone who’s respectful of that and willing to share housework as equally as possible.
- Not a fan of clutter too- the flat has got everything we need kitchen wise- so ideally not someone who’s looking to add much to my existing stuff.
- A good, kind, open and respectful communicator: so if there’s anything flat related we want to discuss- we have the conversation straight away.
- I’m vegetarian 🌱 and the dream person would also be.
- I also have some nut allergies so I need someone to not keep certain nuts in the flat.
- Working wise: ok for you to WFH a bit but ideally someone who works out of the flat mostly.
- I have another spare room and often have family and friends to stay- so you’d need to be ok with that.
- if you have a partner they are welcome to stay/ hang out here sometimes but I’d primarily like you to go to theirs. I’m wary of falling into the classic awkward ‘flatmates boyfriend/ girlfriend non consensually moves in’ predicament!
Realise this is A LOT of detail, but I truly believe you need to be so thorough with this. I’ve had a lot of luck with wonderful flatmates over my time in Edinburgh and am determined to continue my lucky streak 😉
If you get in touch and I think we might be a good fit, I’ll invite you round for a viewing and a chat. I want to take the time to make sure I find the right person, so maybe even meeting up a few times could be good to make sure we’re a good fit.
No pets/ couples/ smokers.
