Description
Hello,
I’m looking for a clean, tidy, and considerate professional housemate to share a gorgeous 2-up/2-down house in the popular NR2 area, which I’ve been happily renting on a house share with one other housemate for the past year. Please read through, and if it feels like a good fit, I’d love to hear from you either by reply here, by email to me, or by phone to my existing housemate's number supplied in the ad (his name is Jacques, he's really nice and has kindly agreed to handle phone calls about this opportunity)..
My preference is for a female sharer a little older (ideally mid-30s and above), who appreciates a calm, relaxed home life rather than lots of dating, parties, or heavy drinking. This house is very much a warm and welcoming 1-2-1 set-up, and I value both companionship and personal space. I enjoy a good chat, laughter, and occasionally sharing a meal or film in the evening.
The tenancy is long-term, with a fantastic landlady and a very responsive agent. All the furniture is mine, and I was given permission to redecorate throughout (which means you would also be welcome to personalise your spacious double bedroom and sole-use downstairs bathroom if you wanted to add your own touch). The bedroom is 11 foot square with a small inbuilt wardrobe/cupboard and a period fireplace. My departing housemate bought a decent quality king-sized bed and desk with office chair less than a year ago, and the room can either be rented unfurnished or you are welcome to negotiate over keeping the items for yourself if that would be helpful for you. The plan is to find a suitable newcomer -- someone who already has roots in Norwich or a definite goal of staying in place for a minimum of two years -- and then to hand over to our agent and landlady to go through all the standard checks, and references as well as drawing up a new tenancy agreement to put us both down as co-habitants of this address.
I am really well accustomed to sharing with just one other person; it has worked really well throughout large periods of my life. But, to be totally upfront: I’m mildly neurodivergent, which means I do best with a peaceful environment. I’m not suited to lots of noise, frequent gatherings, or regular overnight guests (though the occasional stay-over is fine). The neighbourhood is quiet and friendly and we have a lovely street with neighbours who sometimes meet up to do a local pub quiz and who always help one another out with odd tasks and favours.
A little about me: I’m a former University of London lecturer in theatre & performance studies, with a background in architectural theory and spatial design. After big life changes over the past five years, I’m enjoying a new chapter—re-training as a therapist and shamanic practitioner, working on myself, and following a more creative and spiritual path. I now work mostly from home as a subtle energy healer, PSYCH-K therapist, and vibrational medicine maker. Very occasionally I may host a client in the house, though most of my work is online.
Your share of the rent would be £600 pcm + half of bills. I've put £600 down as the deposit but this is an estimate and will depend on what arrangements the landlady needs to make as we end one contract and set up the new one. Broadband is already set up and has been running well for the past year and so it will be an easy entry into life at 14 Warwick St for whoever moves in. Start date has a degree of flexibility around it.
