Description
Hi, my name is Julian and I have a 3 room “Annex” with shower room available for a lodger.
It is attached to the back of the main house in which we live. It over looks the rear garden, the vegetable garden, woodland towards the river Waveney beyond.
Set beside the “Redgrave and Lopham Fen” with the Waveney river running just behind, we are therefore surrounded by an intensely beautiful, tranquil natural world with it’s wild ponies, cows, owls etc some of which also inhabit our gardens…! (See Wikipedia “Waveney River” , “Source of the Waveney River “ and “Redgrave and Lopham Fen)
Diss being our main market town with all it’s amenities and main line train to London Liverpool St is approximately 3 miles to the east, and a pleasant cycle-able distance along a beautifully idyllic back road through Wortham Ling. Bury St Edmunds to the west is also within commutable distance and provides everything the heart desires as does the fine city of Norwich to the north.
The villages of Wortham and Redgrave are also very nearby almost equidistant south and southwest respectively.
Redgrave has a lovely Community pub and community shop and Wortham has a great post office and tea rooms as well as a gastro pub.
“Starwing brewery” itself is in close proximity lying almost due south and hosts many varied events and is an interesting resource which can, for the slightly more adventurous be walked to mostly by footpath.
Indeed there are many wonderful footpaths to be enjoyed in the immediate area including the historic Angles way which starts here at the source of the Waveney river and will take you some 93 miles to Yarmouth should you so wish…!! .
There is a shared lobby entrance provides a friendly meeting place for all comings and goings and shared utility room.
Naturally It is an environment and lifestyle most ideally suited to a person aspiring or accustomed to rural living.
Heating is via a wood burning stove (pictured) which keeps the place “as toasty as”, and two A rated oil filled electric, programmable wall mounted radiators as well as a convection radiator in the shower room.
You are welcome to and there is plenty of space to grow your own vegetables etc.
In short we would very much welcome your involvement in the place and the particular lifestyle which it allows, hopefully at least metaphorically you’d like to keep some chickens ….!
In reality it’s probably best if you’re the kind of person who’s into and enjoys collecting and chopping wood for the log burner…!
Water comes from a private water supply borehole and is therefore pure.
We try as much as possible to live a low impact, holistic “green” life style.
We are of an artist, creative, live and let live persuasion.
There is a very friendly dog in residence...!
Currently furnished however this is flexible, anything surplus to requirement can be removed.
There is an 8x6’ shed included for storage of bikes, camping equipment etc.
Preferably you won’t wish to work from home, but there maybe scope to consider a part time version, maybe creatively..💭
Sorry to say we are not wishing for housing benefit claims if you are not working, however top up, pension credit and the like is fine.
We would be happy to consider a pet if compatible with her highness in residence…! 🤞
Unfortunately the place is unsuitable for couples and therefore politely suggest single occupancy only please…
If you would please bare in mind this is a rural, holistic, “green” environment the principles of which are dear to our hearts you’ll understand therefore we’d hope for a similarly motivated “someone” who shares these sensibilities.
If you are handy and / or into gardening there maybe scope for an amount of barter for rent..

Any further questions please do ask.
We look forwards to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Julian
