Description
We have a spacious double room with en-suite shower available in a large detached house in East Yorkshire, between Pocklington and Market Weighton.
I wouldn't normally do this, but my current lodger - who sadly left us recently to take up a new job - insisted on it! She's written:
"I have had the absolute pleasure of living with Janet and David for a few months now. Sadly, my work has taken me to Leeds and I have to move out. I have rented rooms for the past two years and this residence has (by far!) been the most peaceful. Janet and David are kind, easy going and very good at giving a lodger space. At the same time, I've been made to feel like a valued member of the household. The room is spacious and light, with lots of storage. It has a beautiful view of the paddock and the wild meadow garden is magical. You really have to view this property to see what a gorgeous location it is in. It's been a privilege to live with genuinely kind and intelligent people. They have set the bar very high for my next residence."
Both Pocklington and Market Weighton have good shops and other amenities. York, Hull, Beverley and Driffield are all within easy reach, and if you enjoy walking the Yorkshire Wolds National Landscape is just a stone's throw away.
The room has a lovely view and is furnished with a king-sized bed, desk, chair, bedside tables, etc. There's a big shared kitchen, off-street parking, and a large garden which you're welcome to enjoy (and to give us a hand in if you wish!). There's a separate Breakfast Room / Lounge which you're welcome to use for yourself or your guests.
There is good wifi and phone signal. The accommodation is suitable for a single working professional. Utility bills are included in the monthly rental.
The nearest bus-stop is a mile and a half away so you'll need your own transport.
The live-in house-owners are a well-travelled professional couple - we're semi-retired but still working part-time, we do a lot of voluntary work, and sing in a local choir. We try to manage the garden and fields to encourage biodiversity. Please note that we keep horses, so if you're allergic to them, then unfortunately this isn't the right place for you.
