Large double in friendly vegan house with cleaner

Rent reduced to £675 if you would like to help take care of the cats on the occasions when I'm away.

We have a spacious, bright room to let on the first floor. It's at the back of the house overlooking the garden. There's plenty of space for a double bed and desk/other furniture. It is neutrally decorated with a new carpet last year One of the walls is modern built-in cupboards with lots of shelving and hanging space. The room is unfurnished but some furniture can be arranged if you need it, happy to chat about this.

The house is a 5 bedroomed semi-detached with three of us living here, plus three black & white cats who would love to make friends with you. I also let out a self-contained studio flat on the ground floor for short-term lets.

We are sometimes sociable and sometimes like to do our own thing. There is usually somebody about for a chat but equally we respect each other's space and privacy. It's a quiet house most of the time.

There is a shared kitchen, living room, big hallway, conservatory and sunny garden. There is an upstairs bathroom with bath, shower, sink and toilet, and there's also a separate toilet. There's never a queue. We have a cleaner who comes each week to clean the kitchen, bathrooms and living spaces. Everybody has two cupboards in the kitchen and half of a fridge each, we've also got lots of freezer space.

We are all vegan and the kitchen is strictly plant-based. We've got varied interests - reading, nature, running, animals, swimming, watching crime-drama, writing, hiking, environment and lots more. We all love cooking and eating and often ordering takeaway! (There is a vegan Chinese restaurant that delivers to the door!) We are looking for someone who will fit in well in our home, it's a lovely place to be, full of animals and people, but also usually calm and peaceful. We do sometimes like to have friends over, but more often than not you'll find us on the sofa in our pyjamas in the evening.

Your rent will include all bills: council tax; water; electricity; gas (central heating - it's cosy warm in the house in winter); fast fibre broadband; and a weekly cleaner. The only thing not included is TV license. There is plenty of on-street parking. We also have a bike shed in the garden. There is a summerhouse too, with sofa and bed for guests to stay, and a big sunny garden, with apple trees, to spend time in..

It takes 25-30 minutes to walk into the city centre from here, or 30 seconds to walk to the nearest bus stop where you can catch the number 1 into the city or to the train station and get good transport links to the university and elsewhere. There's a Co-op corner shop a few seconds walk away too, and Acomb high street is just minutes walk with lots of cafes, lovely charity shops, chemists, clothes shops and a big Morrisons supermarket. There's plenty of green space and parks within walking distance and you can walk to the river Ouse for a stroll along the river banks in about 25 minutes. The house is off the main road on a cul-de-sac so it's quiet here, it's well lit and safe.
