Friendly, Nerdy LGBT Household

Hi! I’m Jack :)

I’m looking to rent out one of the rooms in my house. I already have one other lodger. I’m exclusively looking for tenants who are LGBT or LGBT allies (this bit is very important, as we are an LGBT household), and who are either working professionals or postgraduate students. Both me and my lodger are in our 30s and working professionals so we're looking for someone who will fit in with us. We are a neurodiversity-friendly household. Unfortunately the house isn't suitable for people with mobility issues, due to having a very steep staircase up to the first floor!

The house is situated in an ideal location; it’s a 15 minute walk into town along the river, a 10 minute walk to Aldi, and a 20 minute walk to the University of York. It's also a few minutes walk to the riverside (which is a lovely place for a stroll), and a 5 minute walk from Rowntree Park, one of the best parks in York. The street has parking, but you'll need to pay for a permit.

We like to keep the place clean and tidy, so if you moved in you'd be expected to keep the communal areas tidy and clean up after yourself (wipe the kitchen surfaces after you've used them, wash your dishes - we have a dishwasher - that sort of thing). We also have a weekly cleaning rota that you'd be expected to take part in (one person cleans the kitchen, one cleans the bathroom, one hoovers), to keep the house looking and feeling nice to live in!

About me: I’m a guy, 29, very short, a bit of a geek, and very relaxed and friendly. I’m not a party animal - I prefer a quiet night in, or going on a walk with friends. The house vibe is chatty and friendly.

Enthusiam for cats is essential in this house! I have a cat called Rudy. He is a loud boy who is very playful and demands a lot of attention, although he's a bit shy around new people because he's a rescue.

- The room is furnished with a double bed, a bedside table, shelves, a chest of draws, a desk, a chair and a bin.
- The house has a dishwasher, a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a washing line.
- No smoking allowed in the house!
- We have a yard with a bike shed, and a patio with sofas
- Bills are included in the rent.

I work 9am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday, usually from home, so viewings will have to be in the evenings or weekends. If getting to York for a viewing is difficult, I can show you around by doing a video call on WhatsApp!
