The house is conveniently located next to a local store and a Post Office, very near the little Joseph Rowntree Theatre and Yearsley swimming pool, by the previously Quaker Rowntree - now Nestle - chocolate factory, and a short walk to York St Johns University and the District Hospital. About 20 minutes walk to the magnificent Cathedral, known as the Minster.

The Number 1 bus stop is very near the house (Joseph Rowntree Theatre bus stop} with Number 1 buses every 10 minutes via the city centre direct to the train station. And, other direct buses to the city centre literally on our doorstep.

The Quakers originated the chocolate business in York because they wished to encourage people to drink nutritious hot chocolate as an alternative to the then popular gin houses. A room in this house would suit anyone who would like to follow in the Quaker spirit of prayer, peace and patience, fresh air rather than smoking and maybe a hot chocolate or a herb tea rather than alcohol.

We follow in the Quaker traditions of York's rich history, and thus we're a completely non-alcoholic household. However, we're a multi-denominational Christian family, easy going and pet-loving. Any pets would be free to roam the garden.
