Single Room in Fulford

We are two graduates (one male, one female, both working), seeking a tidy, reliable person for the third room in our house, which is a single room on the first floor. The room is available from 4th September.

We are looking for a non-smoking housemate ideally aged over 25. We would strongly prefer someone who is working (not a full-time student) so that we can share council tax. You must be able to sign up to an initial six-month contract. No pets are allowed.

The rent is £236.67 per month, not including bills. The deposit is £216.67. As we rent from an agency there is also a £50 referencing fee. The rent is really low as I've lived in the house for ages and the landlord has chosen to barely increase it, so you would get to benefit from that 'loyalty discount'!

Bills average roughly £81 a month or £18.69 a week (gas/electricity/water/line rental/broadband/TV licence/council tax).

The house is situated in Fulford, halfway between York University and the city centre. It's about 15 mins walk from the uni and a pleasant 20 min walk into the city along the riverside path. There is a Sainsburys Local just around the corner and Aldi and Iceland about 10 mins walk away.

The house is fully furnished with central heating and wi-fi. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer, and the bathroom has both a bath and shower. There is a small back yard with a shed which can be used for storing bikes, etc. On-street parking is also available.

My housemate works for the NHS as a non-emergency ambulance driver; I work in a museum and also do occasional bits of writing work. We have a wide range of interests including watching TV, meditation, comedy writing, dancing and paddleboarding. We are not loud people, but like to hang out and chat sometimes.

We are currently a vegetarian household and it would be nice to have another vegetarian living here, but it's not compulsory.

We're normally very keen to show everyone around the house, but due to the current situation feel it's best to conduct as few physical viewings as possible. So if you seem suitable for the room and household we'll probably suggest an initial chat on Zoom or Skype first, and then if we're very keen on you, maybe progress to a physical viewing after that.
