Description
Professionals only, academics welcome. No students, no nightshifts, Please read the whole advert, and be aware that I can't answer enquiries until Monday Oct 28.
Lovely carpeted, bright double bedroom (for one person) with desk, wardrobe, shelves and large chest of drawers. CH, wifi, use of kitchen, downstairs shower/wc, garden, bicycle shed. The room is an upstairs double, available from 24th November, 2024 . Sharing house with myself and one other. You should be a working professional or academic. Quiet and clean, perhaps likes a chat over a cuppa and sharing a meal/bbq every so often :-) Working from home is fine, and those people who have done really liked doing so, helped by the view of the front garden and a good desk and chair. We have a great WiFi speed too! Council tax band C.
Do contact me if interested; I do a WhatsApp video call and tour of the house with any prospective lodgers first, so it's no problem if you are not currently in York or the UK. I'll do a video call first even if you are in York.
Generally, the room is available for 6 months to over a year; but I'm happy to discuss other timescales. A cleaning charge of £45 will apply at the end.
You must love dogs, as Ashie the Entlebucher Mountain Dog (not as big as he sounds!) lives here too.
Parking free just around the corner, or you can buy into the Respark scheme as 2nd vehicle.
Lockable bike shed; definitely the best way to get around to York. Easy access to the City Centre, the University and Aldi; cycle paths and river close by, as are the Bishy Rd shops and cafes; previously a High Street of the Year. It's a 20 min walk to town, and the Millennium Bridge/riverside is close by. Easy access to the University (if you work there) by cycle, walking or bus.
Bills aren't included, due to the ever-increasing cost of energy and other services. Currently around £125/mth.
Lodgers are expected to keep their bedrooms and shower room clean and vacuumed, and share in the cleaning/vacuuming of any common spaces, on a weekly basis. The kitchen is a 'clean as you go' area: no exceptions to this. Vegans and Vegetarians very welcome, though currently neither of us are either. Although we cater for ourselves, we'll have a meal together every so often. We're all respectful of each other, get along very well and laugh a lot.
I let out the single, downstairs bedroom as Air BnB, so there's often interesting solo travellers from anywhere in the world to chat to.
