Description

Large double bedroom in nice Victorian terraced house with 3 bedrooms and original features. If you have your own furniture that’s fine as we can move things around 👍 ... you will be sharing with me and one other single adult, both aged 32 and professional.

Respect and consideration for others and the environment is very important to me so the room would suit somebody of a similar empathetic nature. I have lived off grid for a year and although that is not my lifestyle now I try to bring a little of the lower impact mindset back to domestic life. I eat a vegan diet and I am very passionate about animal welfare and also the effects of the modern human diet on the environment... I enjoy talking about it and working out ways of lowering our impact and now that it is common knowledge that a low level of meat consumption is best for the environment I would be uncomfortable living with somebody that is not working toward this collective goal. If you live here it is inevitable that the conversation will get onto the subject during our interactions and if you claim to be environmentally conscious or if you consider yourself an animal lover because you own a pet but you support the meat and dairy industry then chances are we won’t agree and I will probably point out things that might make you uncomfortable. This doesn’t mean we can’t live under the same roof but I’m just putting it out there now so that you have a little insight into the views of the person you could potentially be living with as they are strong views and considering the human and animal suffering involved it is not a subject I am willing to hold back on. This may seem petty or even extreme but I feel it should be a consideration when living in close quarters with somebody, especially nowadays when there is so much catastrophe and disease surrounding the issue. Moderate meat consumption I don’t have a major issue with as that was me for most of my life so I totally understand but a lot of people eat meat or animal products in every single snack or meal so if that sounds like your diet then I wouldn’t want all that pain and suffering filling my fridge every day and it would be best you looked else where for a room. If veganism is the kind of thing that might ruffle your feathers then this is definitely not the house for you but if you are simply open and curious to alternative lesser impactful ways of sustaining yourself as I am then this is good and can lead to interesting discussions and discoveries 😌. I am also slowly working towards a very low level of waste and I do expect other housemates to be mindful of this considering the current state of the planet. There are plastic and chemicals in the house but they are getting less and less as I refine my routines, the room would suit someone who is low waste or atleast keen to refine their own ways and to work together with me on living with less, I’m always open to ideas that are positive and work for a better future for all. I’m not striving for eco perfection and I don’t expect that of anyone else either, I enjoy some luxuries and I like to go on holiday in an aeroplane occasionally etc etc, it’s just about making those things sustainable and not used and abused to oblivion.

We have a large vegetable patch at the property and you would be welcome to use this and help grow some food for the household that we could all share.

Excessive consumption of any kind is not tolerated in the house but moderate and fair consumption is fine, my current lodger has never given me a reason to question a thing and I’m relaxed unless given good reason to raise my antennae. The reason Im taking the time to explain a few things now is because I’ve had about 10 lodgers in my time, I’ve always had a relaxed and easy going approach and never had a real problem with anyone until recently where I had to ask someone to move out due to their excessive consumption levels, clutter and general disrespect around the house regardless of repetitive confrontations on the matter. If you are a good natured courteous human being we will get on just fine but it’s better I am clear on my boundaries now before anyone’s time and energy is wasted. These are all just opinions and I’m not caring of who might be right and who might be wrong but just be mindful of the fact you will be coming in under my roof, not the other way round.
