Low cost accommodation in Beeston, Notts

An elderly person with reduced memory and mobility is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person is well supported by carer visits, and family visit regularly, but would really appreciate someone living with them for reassurance and a positive presence, plus to cook and share a few meals, help with how to use the phone, TV, appliances etc when they get stuck, helping to keep the home clean and tidy (there is a cleaner), and ad hoc other practical help and errands as may arise.

The accommodation on offer is a choice of bedroom – either with a double bed or a single bed but more space (furniture can be rearranged), and shared use of the wet room, kitchen, sitting room and garden.

The property is in the village of Chilwell, 6 miles to the SW of Nottingham. There is parking available. There is a bus stop 5 minutes’ walk away and a tram stop approx. 10 minutes’ walk away. It is an easy 30 min journey by public transport to the university or hospital.

The person used to be a vet and likes nature and nature programmes, plus some quiz programmes, news, travel etc. They will read the newspaper or a fiction book, do crosswords and puzzles, play dominoes, listen to Radio 4. They used to do embroidery but this is now tricky due to poor eyesight.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who ideally shares some of the person’s interests.
