I am a current tenant looking for a replacement housemate in my lovely rented house just off Cowley Road, ideally starting in early September. I am open to both short and long term stays, with preference for the remainder of the current tenancy, which runs until end of February 2025.

The room for rent is a double that includes a large cubbie storage unit (see pictures), as well as use of a wardrobe (currently in the next room that will remain unoccupied, but we could move it). Upon negotiation with the current tenant, an Ikea bed frame with mattress and a small nighttable with lamp can also be left in the room if desired. The room features a large bay of windows overlooking the street (facing approximately west). It is located on the first floor, so unfortunately the property is not accessible for someone with difficulty using stairs.

Asking for £975pcm including rent, council tax (band C) and all bills. This is the monthly costs split down the middle. Students and couples will be considered, potentially with adjustments to rent, but a single professional housemate is preferred.

The house is in a great location, easy walking or cycling distance to Magdalen and Cowley Road shops/pubs, Florence Park, Temple Cowley shops (Sainsburys, Lidl, TK Maxx), Iffley Sports complex, etc. Cycling to the city centre takes about 10 minutes. Cowley Road bus stops are a 2 minute walk away, Iffley Road a 10 minute walk (to the Howard St co-op). It is a 15 minute walk to St. Clements busses to London and the airports.

The house has a great full kitchen with gas hob, double oven with grill, dishwasher, and large refrigerator with freezer. Assortment of dishes, cutlery, small appliances, etc. are already in the house. We would share the living room that includes an extendable dining table, two sofas, and a tv, as well as the full bathroom upstairs with shower over tub, and a second toilet in the utility room downstairs, which also includes a washer.

The property also has a large back garden (currently filled with blackberries, rasberies, apples, and plumbs) including a small shed for covered bicycle storage, accessed through a locked gate shared with neighbours. The smaller third bedroom is not furnished for renting at the moment, but can be used as shared storage, has a futon for a guest, and could be set up as a home office.

About me: I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Oxford Mathematical Institute. I am originally from the Adirondack mountains of northeastern New York State. I play football (before you ask: yes, I mean soccer) every week and enjoy spending time outdoors, but also like watching series/movies, reading, cooking, a good trip to the pub, etc. I am socially active and host friends in the evening on occasion, but also value regular alone/relaxation time, especially on the weekends. I am generally a tidy person and like to keep the house as clean and organised as reasonably possible.

I am hoping to find a communicative, respectful, and tidy housemate who cleans up after themselves and pays bills on time. Beyond those qualities, I am open, so do be in touch if you are interested.

Assuming a long term stay, I will want to add you to the lease and the landlord will do referencing, likely through the OpenRent service. There is also a possibility of renewal after the current tenancy ends in February, so if you are seeking a longer contract this can be discussed.
