Description

Double Room Available – Quiet, Friendly Home with garden

A long ad but I hope it gives a good overview and helps you see if the space will work for you

This rental will suit someone who is friendly and kind. Someone who likes the quiet home life. The space will work for someone who is happy moving into a ready-made cosy environment and is not bringing much stuff for the living space but happy to share what is here already, someone who sees it as a bonus and not a burden. There is lots of storage space in the bedroom. The sharing of what is already here in the communal area should hopefully be mutually beneficial - it has worked well with my previous and current housemate who both came over to Oxford from abroad so they didn't have much with them and weren't planning on accumulating - instead they were able to enjoy the cosy comfort and I didn't have to make any major changes to the living space.

If a good housemate fit, opportunity to extend beyond 6 months. I’ll likely be here for at least another year or two but could assess further down the line what works for us both.

Who You’ll Be Sharing With
• Me, Arthur the cat, and Scarlett the bearded dragon.
• I work in clinical trials at Oxford University, love wildlife, vegetable gardening, yoga, and exploring farm shops and cafes.
• I like to keep the home cosy, I’m friendly, caring, often pretty silly & giggly and respect privacy and peoples boundaries
• Enjoy occasional socialising including with current housemate (if we are both feeling up to it!) - going for walks, pub trips, visiting national trust sites, yoga - all the usual kinda things

Who This Might Suit
• Someone who loves animals and is patient with new furry/scaly friends.
• Someone who also works from the office (or similar) and not primarily at home for work - wfh is totally fine but it is nice for the house to not feel like a work place if either of us has days off. For example, if my housemate has taken time off to chill, I typically go into the office so she doesn’t have to worry about disrupting me/doesn’t have to be quiet and she does the same for me.
• Comfortable using shared furniture/items and treating the home as your own (accidents happen – no stress about the occasional spill!).
• Looking for a peaceful sanctuary – ideal for relaxing after work with minimal disruptions.
• Although it’s a quiet living environment, there isn’t a no guest rule or anything. My current housemate has her boyfriend come and stay from Germany for the odd weekend every couple of months or so and I occasionally have a friend or two round, we always let each other know though. An occasional bbq or something in the summer is also cute, but typically (especially during the working week) it’s just us two around or we keep it quiet and chilled
• Currently, me and current housemate communicate with each other when we will not be home, which works well and I would like to live with someone who likes this type of communication too. It is not that we don't want the other home, but it is nice to know when the space if going to be free for those embarrassing dancing round the kitchen with nobody watching kinda moments or when you just want to chill on the sofa like a slob knowing you're home alone (although feel free to do that if i'm here too!). It is often on these days/evenings we may invite someone over too, as it doesn't disrupt the other persons environment if they are not here. I know this is a silly and specific detail but mentioning as some people really don't like giving the heads up
