Description
Our current housemate is moving back to Italy to finish her PhD, so we (33F and 27F) are looking for a friendly, clean and tidy female housemate to join us in our homely flat in Jericho. We are based right in the centre of gorgeous Jericho, only a 15 min walk to the city centre and 5 mins from beautiful Port Meadow, or 10 mins from University Parks.
The available room is a compact double room on the top floor, furnished with a small double bed, single wardrobe/chest of drawers, shelves, and built-in cabinets with small desk/dressing table space. N. B. the blind in the photos has been replaced with a new blackout roller blind. The room faces onto Walton Street and has a lovely view of the sunsets! Start date is 1st May (flexible by a few days earlier, or later move-in as long as you can cover the rent from 1st May).
The rent includes all bills except internet and TV licence which we split between the three of us. It's really good value for this area of Oxford!
The flat is spacious for three people, and split across two floors. On the first floor there’s a huge living/dining room with sofas and a large dining table, the kitchen, a downstairs toilet and a bedroom. On the top floor there's two bedrooms (including yours), the bathroom with a bath and freestanding shower, a washing machine, and there's an extra room where we can dry our laundry. The kitchen is compact, so please note there is not a lot of space for multiple people cooking at once, and quite limited kitchen storage.
There is no designated parking at the property but we are in zone JE and the property is eligible to apply for resident parking permits. We have space to store a bicycle if needed.
Lucy works for the University and likes music and art. Gail works in publishing and likes reading (of course) and is attempting to get into knitting. We sometimes host board game nights and watch TV together. As housemates we are friendly, tidy and considerate. We are looking for a housemate who is also considerate and friendly. It's also really important our new housemate is proactive in taking on their share of the general household cleaning tasks on top of cleaning up after themselves. We don't have a cleaning rota and everyone pitches in.
Ideally we’re looking for another professional, or a mature grad student who doesn’t mind paying council tax (which is all included in the rent as shown here). As the living room is the only shared space we have, we'd like to keep this as leisure space so ask that any WFH is kept to the bedroom. Please note that due to Lucy's job, we cannot accept students from Green Templeton College.
Logistics-wise, there is a deposit required, which comes to about £770, and there’s also a fee of £50 for the referencing and to change the name on the tenancy agreement.
Please get in touch if you’re interested, letting us know a bit about yourself. Due to housemate availability we will mostly be arranging viewings on weekday evenings, so please keep this in mind if you are currently based outside of Oxford. We feel it's important for us to meet who we will be living with in person, so please note that we won't be holding virtual viewings except in special circumstances.
If you think you'd be a good fit, we'd love to hear from you! We are both juggling busy jobs at the same time as trying to find our new housemate so please be patient with us, we might not be able to get back to you straight away but will try to reply as soon as we can.
