Description

We are two friends (33F and 35F), looking for a friendly, considerate third person to fill a small double room in our homely houseshare in Jericho. We are based right in the centre of Jericho, only a 15 min walk to the city centre and 5 mins from beautiful Port Meadow, or 10 mins from University Parks.

The rent includes all bills except internet (which is about £10 a month) and TV licence (renewed annually). It's exceptionally good value for this area of Oxford. Please note there may shortly be an increase in rent as our tenancy is coming up for renewal. However, historically the rent increases for this property have been minimal.

The flat is spacious for three people, and split across two floors. On the first floor there’s a huge living/dining room with sofas and a large dining table, the kitchen, a downstairs toilet and a bedroom. On the top floor there's two bedrooms (including yours), the bathroom with a bath and separate shower, and an extra space where we can dry our laundry. The kitchen is quite small, but as there are only three people in the house this is rarely an issue – we just tend to stagger cooking times, but please note this may not suit someone who does a lot of cooking/baking.

The room is on the top floor, furnished with a small double bed, wardrobe, shelves, and built-in cabinets with small desk/dressing table space. It faces onto Walton Street and has a lovely view of the sunsets! It is available from the 1st of September as our current housemate is moving in with her partner.

We both work in different roles connected to the University of Oxford. Lucy likes music and art and Jess writes books and likes the theatre. We sometimes host board game nights and watch TV together. As housemates we are friendly, tidy and considerate. We don't have a set cleaning rota and instead take responsibility for doing the things that need to be done, so are looking for someone who is, like us, proactive in taking on their share of the household tasks.

Ideally we’re looking for another professional, or a mature grad student who doesn’t mind paying council tax (which is all included in the rent as shown here). We would prefer that whoever joins us does not work from home in the living room. As it's the only shared space we have, we'd like to keep this as leisure space. Please note that due to the nature of one of our jobs, we cannot accept students from Green Templeton College.

Logistics-wise, there is a deposit required, which comes to about £770, and there’s also a fee of £50 for the referencing.

Please get in touch if you’re interested, letting us know a bit about yourself. Due to housemate availability we will be arranging viewings on weekday evenings, so please keep this in mind if you are currently based outside of Oxford. We feel it's important for us to meet who we will be living with in person, so please note that we won't be holding virtual viewings.

If you think you'd be a good fit, we'd love to hear from you.
