Friendly Queer Veggie Houseshare in Jericho! 💫🌱

Looking for another vegan or vegetarian to join our lovely home in the heart of Jericho! We (Lu and M) are two queer professionals working at the University who love literature, houseplants, animals and laughter. We are clean and respectful housemates and like the house to feel like home. We are not a party household and are looking for someone who enjoys a more mature home environment.

🏠: 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom in Jericho. The large upstairs bathroom has both a bath and a shower, and we have an additional toilet downstairs. We share a beautiful garden (with hedgehogs!), a living room with a smart TV + Fire stick, a large and well equipped galley kitchen with dishwasher, and a brand new as of 2023 washer-dryer. Boiler and thermostat were brand new in 2024 and keep us cosy whilst keeping our bills down! The landlord is Lucy Properties who have been amazing, are always on the ball with maintenance, and offer us some free yoga sessions every month at a fancy studio near the house! House is 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre, with a small supermarket, cinema, bars and delis only 2 minutes away, and port meadow 5 minutes away for summer strolls / running fanatics.

🛌: the available room is a medium sized, ground floor double room overlooking the garden with LOADS of storage space. The room is furnished with a double bed, bedside table, built in wardrobes, desk and chair, and bookcase. The landlord is generally amenable to different furniture arrangements if you want to bring your own or e. g. want a bigger desk!

💷: rent is £830 pcm, bills (water, gas, electric, WiFi, Netflix) and council tax are a further £150 pcm. We are council tax band D. We have a splitwise for small expenses, an eco loo-roll subscription, and share all of our kitchen basics (oil, salt etc.).

🏳️‍🌈: we and many of our closest friends are LGBT+, so it is important to us that our house is queer-friendly and trans-inclusive. Housemates (and partners who visit the house) must share our values! We would prefer a queer housemate but allies also welcome!

🌱: we are a strictly meat-free household and use eco-friendly, vegan cleaning products etc. wherever possible. Lu is vegan, M is not: another vegan would be ideal but veggies also welcome. Eggs and milk are ok, but we ask that you respect our no meat (including fish) rule - this is non-negotiable.

🙋: you will ideally be a queer professional, close to our age (~30). We cannot usually live with students because of our jobs: in some cases a DPhil may be okay if you are happy to pay council tax: please message for more details! We cannot accept couples because of our HMO license.

👥: you will be living with two housemates:

Lu (33, she/her) is a postdoc who loves literature, video games, cinema and trying to keep all of our houseplants alive.

M (29, they/them) is a lecturer who loves poetry, karaoke, and 80s music.

We sometimes have house movie nights, Sunday house yoga (we get free sessions at a local studio thanks to our landlord!), vegan hotpot and pub trips and would love to e. g. do Ox Pride together! We are friendly and always happy to chat in the kitchen but also very respectful of the need for downtime alone. It's important to us that housemates feel that this is not just a house but a home, and we are always happy to have a natter over tea or to watch netflix together.
