Awesome spacious double, friendly inclusive house!

Spacious double room in Headington available in a 6 bedroom house, with two communal bathrooms. You would share your bathroom with two other people (one male, one female). 10 minute walk to Headington shops, good access to ring road for commuting and bus routes. On street parking is good – we have a driveway which is already full but the car users in the house would split the cost of a permit if you have a car, which isn’t too expensive. Weekends and evenings are free on our street too, so if you’re at work between 9 and 5, no permit needed. Close proximity to JR and Churchill hospitals. This whole area is residential and really nice, quiet at nights and mostly families on our street. We have a shed which can store bikes.

The house has a really spacious kitchen/living room area and a garden. We are a very sociable house – there is always at least a couple of people in the kitchen/living room on an evening and we all really like each other and get along. We are looking for someone who wants to feel part of the house. We don’t just want to “fill a room” and not get to know you. Upon viewing the house, it’s important to us that you meet all current housemates (availability permitting) both for our and your benefit!

As a house, we very occasionally do organised things – barbecues in summer, board game night very occasionally, outings to the pub/dinner out if it’s someone’s birthday etc but this is very sporadic. However the most important thing is the day-to-day. Mostly we just want someone who will have a presence and isn’t shy to have a chat on an evening while eating their dinner some nights of the week.

Despite 6 people sounding like a manic house – the house never feels too crowded and busy. The living area is big, and most weekends usually at least half of the house are away somewhere. It should be noted however that the available bedroom is downstairs and directly next to the kitchen/living room. With regards to TV noise/talking/cooking, we are usually extremely quiet from 11pm in the week, and up to as late as maybe midnight/1am on Friday/Saturday nights. If you require dead silence from 9pm this will not be the room for you. Our cleanliness/tidiness standards are moderate. The house is hygienic but not always perfectly tidy. The pictures you see below of the kitchen/living room are very representative of a typical day – apart from we cleared the work tops a bit and wiped them. We didn’t blitz the house specially for the photos. The bathroom photo is “as-is”, it is always in that condition.

Among the current housemates we have a software developer, a radiographer, a PhD student/vet, an IT analyst, and another PhD student. We are also looking ideally for a female to preserve the gender balance of the house (currently 50:50, with one female outgoing).
