Description
Beautiful, Safe, Upmarket Area. Nature walks nearby. Garden. Driveway parking. Nice, friendly, easy-going, considerate housemates. Stylish fully equipped kitchen-diner. Lounge. Loft storage.
The house is in Cumnor, West Oxford. It is an ideal location, with the best of both worlds. Quick & easy access to Oxford Centre by bike, bus and car. Yet in a lovely area with nearby beautiful country walks
The bus-stop is 3 minutes from the house and the bus takes only 15 minutes to get to the train station or 18 to Westgate. We are within the SmartZone so tickets cost the same as elsewhere in Oxford.
Cycling from the house into town - the area near Oxford Train Station - averages 15 minutes if you are reasonably fit and have a decent bike. On the way home it is 20-25 minutes, due to the hill. This is the best way round as it means you can quickly get into work in the morning, and then get some exercise coming up the hill on the way home! :) Coming from the house the roads are initially wide and relatively quiet, and then once there is more traffic there is a cycle lane. So it is much quicker, safer and more enjoyable than cycling up the clogged and narrow Cowley Road. (Note that GoogleMaps is often gives weird, long routes for bikes so its best to look at the pedestrian route and follow that.)
There are also direct buses to Abingdon, Didcot, Wallingford and Wantage from the nearby bus-stop.
Your bedroom is on the groundfloor situated at the side of the house. It can be accessed either via the kitchen or via its own entrance. It is large, bright and has patio doors onto the garden. It also has its a walk-in wardrobe with shelves and hanging rail which helps keep the room tidy. Your bathroom (which is also on the ground floor and quite large) is not accessed directly from the room, but rather is a few meters away, near the front door.
The garden backs onto a field, often populated with sheep. There is a white marble table and metal chairs on the patio....
The kitchen has real granite work surfaces and real maple kitchen units and dining table. There is a large fridge-freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of storage for pans, crockery, food etc.. Pans, crockery, cutlery etc supplied. There are patio doors opening from the dining area onto the patio and garden.
The house has driveway car parking available for tenants. There is easy access to the ring road and thence to Oxford, Culham, Milton, Abingdon, Didcot, Witney etc. The house is in a cul-de-sac so there is no through traffic.
Only 10 minutes cycle from Brookes Harcourt Campus.
You will be sharing with a friendly, easy-going couple, Andrea and Dan. We are academics, teaching philosophy for Oxford University Department for Continuing Education.
No smoking. No pets (other than pets which can be kept in the garden - eg rabbit in a hutch).
We are open to someone taking the room anytime in January.
Please get in touch to arrange a viewing (whether in person or via Videocall).
By the way, There are currently roadworks by the train station. These are not a problem when cycling in (you just have to walk the bike through the tunnel) but they slow down the bus journey to the town centre, because the buses have to stop before the station rather than carrying on past the station like they usually do. Hopefully the roadworks wont last too long.
