An intelligent, educated, friendly, kind and ‘with it’ older person with reduced mobility and poor short-term memory is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person would value the friendly reassurance and company of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. They would also like some general practical help around the home such as picking shopping, cooking around four evenings each week, light cleaning and tidying, help with laundry, carrying heavier items, prompts and reminders, simple IT, and ad hoc practical help and errands as may be needed.

The accommodation on offer is a single bedroom with bed, desk, chair and built-in wardrobe, shared shower room and shared use of the kitchen, sitting room and garden.

The property is in an excellent location in the Summertown area of Oxford, close to bus routes and two miles from the station.

A retired Oxford professor, this person has a wide range of interests including archaeology, politics and geo-politics, ancient history, history, current affairs, reading The Times, listening to The Today programme on BBC Radio 4, watching some TV including travel programmes, documentaries and other factual programmes, listening to classical music and interesting conversation. A family member’s dog sometimes visits.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who ideally shares some of the person’s interests.
