We’re Archie & Sophie and we’re looking for a lodger to take a lovely double room (for single occupancy) in our home in East Avenue, Oxford. The room is available immediately and would suit a quiet, respectful professional or PhD student who likes a calm but friendly home and loves animals – we have two dogs and two cats!
We are a married couple in our thirties, and we both work in healthcare. We like cooking and getting out for dog walks, and we’re friendly and sociable. We do occasionally have friends over (and would love you to join if you’d like to), but always for relatively gentle evenings rather than anything too wild.
The room is reasonably-sized (about 13m²) and on the ground floor, with a queen-sized bed, a high-quality memory foam mattress, and premium bedding/sheets/towels. There’s a desk that would be good for working from home, and loads of storage, including a wardrobe, bookshelf, and an ottoman bed.
You’d be sharing the house with just the two of us, so it feels like a home rather than a house-share. There is a shared living room and kitchen (with a dishwasher), a large bathroom with both a bath and a shower, and a utility room with a separate washer and dryer. We have a secure garden with space for bike storage. There’s no smoking or vaping, and no long-term parking. You’d be very welcome to have guests, including overnight stays, but we’d appreciate knowing in advance (and we would do the same for you). We share the housework and keep the place tidy between us.
We are well located for getting around Oxford — around a 10-minute cycle to the city centre, the JR and to Brookes, and near several bus routes. The house is close to Cowley Road with loads of shops and restaurants, including a Tesco supermarket at the end of the street.
Rent is £200/week or £867/month, which includes all bills. The deposit is £800. The room is available until around August 2026. We’d ideally like someone who can stay at least a couple of months, but we can be flexible on end dates. We’d all sign a lodger agreement. We’d prefer a reference from a previous landlord if that’s possible, but it’s not essential, and can put you in touch with our last lodger if you’d like.
