Description
Hello. Thank you for reading our advert. Please note: The monthly price of £900 reflects the fact there are zero additional fees (bills and council tax are included, and we do not ask for a deposit). We try to make things as simple as possible for our tenants, hence the single monthly price. Once those extra costs are factored in at other properties, I think you will find the prices comparable, and probably cheaper with us.
One of our two tenants is due to leave on February 4th, so this room will be available again from the 5th. The room features a single bed, a garden-facing window, a desk and chair, two chest of drawers for clothes, bedside tables, lamps, and an armchair. The bathroom with a shower is not directly en-suite (it is on the floor above the bedroom, up a short flight of stairs), but it is only for use by the occupant of this room, so it is private. Each tenant has their own private bathroom.
There is a driveway with parking space if you have a car, space to safely store a bicycle either outside or inside, a large shared kitchen / living room area, a shared fridge and freezer, shared washing machine, space to air dry clothes either inside or outdoors, broadband internet (50-60mbps), and a large garden.
Our house is 5 minutes walk to bus stops, then about 10 minutes to the city centre, or a 15 minute cycle ride. It's a 20-25 minute walk to Oxford Parkway train station, with direct trains to London. Summertown (20 minute walk), Port Meadow (15 minute walk), and the canal are close too.
Bills and council tax are included (Council Tax band G). No deposit is required, but we ask you to please supply at least one reference, and a photocopy of your ID (passport etc). When you wish to move out, or we need the room again for some reason, we should give each-other one month's notice. We will sign an "Excluded tenancy agreement" which is the appropriate contract for a live-in landlord, where each tenant has their own private rooms, and there are other shared spaces such as the kitchen.
Our home is privately owned, sharing with my mother (the homeowner, who is a Spanish teacher in her 60s - although she is rarely here as she lives with her partner), and one other tenant (a professional in her early-20s, who works at a cafe, and was previously a teaching assistant). Also one friendly cat. I am the son, and take care of the renting arrangements. We have lived in Oxford for 35 years, so can give advice on the local area, travel to London etc.
We are looking for a quiet, respectful, tidy professional or academic. Masters and PhD students welcome. Singles only, strictly no couples or families. Strictly no smokers / vapers, no heavy drinkers, no drug users, and no other guests please. Please love cats too, as she is an important part of the family, and we want tenants who are happy for her to be around, and can spend some time playing with her. I am afraid we cannot accommodate other pets such as cats or dogs, as she might not like this.
We previously rented this room several times before the pandemic, and a few times since then. We would like to share our house with, and rent the room to responsible tenants who take care with their health, and are aware that while we are "post-pandemic", Covid is still around, and people are still catching it. So please be responsible and wear a mask in the shared areas of the house if you have a cough.
Please keep your bedroom and bathroom clean and tidy, and do the vacuuming and cleaning in those areas (we have all the cleaning products and a vacuum), as those are your private spaces. The shared areas (kitchen, hallways etc) will be cleaned by myself, the live-in landlord.
We are happy to consider any length rental, ideally one to three months or longer, but message us if you require something longer or shorter, and we can speak about it and see what we can do.
Please send us a message telling us a little about yourself. We look forward to hearing from you. Please do not message on behalf of friends or relatives; we would like to hear directly from the person who we will be living with.
Thank you.
Chris
