3 bed detached home looking for lodger

Hi, we are Lydia and Milo! We are a (recently) married young couple who have moved to the highlands from England. We have two dogs who are very friendly and one in particular is always interested in a good play if you’re up for it. The dogs are not allowed upstairs to ensure there is a pet-free space.
The house is just outside the centre of Alness, with a number of takeaways, two supermarkets, a post office, bar and two industrial estates nearby. We are a 30 minute drive from Inverness city Centre (21 miles), and the house is very close to the train station (1 mile), which also services Inverness. Free parking is available on the nearby road - we are hoping to extend the driveway when we are able, so this is a more long-term option. There is a large garden with outdoor furniture and the opportunity to try out your green fingers - if interested - on our soon to be veg patch and native pollinator friendly garden. There is a shared bathroom and kitchen space, however if you wanted to have your own little kitchenette in the bedroom, that would be absolutely fine. We have a downstairs bathroom, a dining room, kitchen, lounge and hallway. Currently, we have a lodger in our previously advertised bedroom, who you will be opposite. It is the same sized room. We have left it empty for now, but it can be furnished with a bed and a storage unit upon request (we already have a duvet and two pillows, but do feel free to bring your own pillows if you would like!). Equally, if you want to bring your own furniture then that is very welcome.

We’re really hoping to not only have a lodger, but someone who we can (hopefully) be friends with. So, we’re looking for somebody who shares the same sort of interests, as we would love to be able to include you in some of our trips out, including to the bouldering centre, snorkelling, hiking, paddle boarding, and generally exploring fun stuff to do up here. We really enjoy good food, the occasional game, trying new things and generally enjoying life! We both work in the conservation sector, with Milo working as a marine biologist restoring seagrass in the firths surrounding the black isle, and I work on a wilderness reserve near Ardgay.

From time to time we will be away on holidays or visiting friends/family in England for the week/weekend. Milo has an eight year old son who will be visiting about twice a year during the school holidays for about a week or two at a time. Therefore, somebody who is comfortable around children is needed.

Currently, the advert is set up with the assumption it will be a single person, so please bear this in mind. We are happy for a partner to visit, but we feel that five people in the house frequently would be too busy, so we hope this is understandable.
