Description
Hi, I'm Emily and I grew up in and around Bristol. I work in Bristol city in nature and wildlife conservation and I'm looking for a friendly someone to enjoy living in my peaceful, safe and spacious home. Over the years I've traveled a lot and I thoroughly enjoy immersing myself in other cultures. I especially love food and tasting traditional dishes from different places. I learn languages quickly, so English does not need to be your first language. I'm also a keen supporter and member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Anyone will find a safe and fun space here.
If you love nature and care for the environment like me, you'll appreciate that my house is gas-free with underfloor heating that is powered by an Air-Source Heat Pump. The available bedroom and all downstairs rooms have their own temperature control so you can set the ideal temperature for you at different times of the day. In the back garden there is a pond, trees and variety of flowering plants, with access to a shed that you may use. The house was built in 2022 with top quality insulation, and you may notice in the photos that I'm slowly getting there with decorating and final touches (the available bedroom and bathroom are complete).
There is one other housemate who has been living with me for 14 months. We met through spare room and we are a calm, friendly and supportive duo, and we're keen to find a third person who will compliment our dynamic and add their own unique edge. We are both engineers by training, both hard working, quiet, tidy and clean, we like music, cooking, and we throw some pretty good house parties. The available room shares the bathroom one person, with the other housemate, who is a 24 year old male.
Information about the monthly rent:
For all professionals, I ask for £600 per month (all bills included).
*Note that this does not include a TV licence.
** This property has council tax band E.
The house layout:
The available bedroom is on the ground floor, which is accessible and the shared bathroom is spacious with a walk-in shower. Shared rooms include the hallway, a large lounge/dining room with patio sliding doors to the back garden, the kitchen and there is a small utility room with toilet for guests. Upstairs, there is an attic room which contains the boiler and you are welcome to use this room to dry your clothes, to store stuff (like bags), or for guests to stay over.
The current housemate is living in the bedroom to the back of the house, with patio door access to the garden (in the photos). He is happy to consider swapping rooms if you prefer back garden access. The front bedroom is exactly the same size, just at the front of the house by the driveway, with a wide window instead of patio doors. There is plenty of unrestricted street parking.
House facilities:
Washing machine with 1600 rpm. Wi-fi. Oven, microwave, grill, hob. Kitchen sink. Utilities sink. Dishwasher. Hoover. House alarm. Hopefully I haven't forgotten anything! Happy to share my rice cooker, bread-maker and smoothie machines and you're welcome to use my plates, utensils, cutlery etc.
I value maintaining a fresh and welcoming space in my home for socialising with friends and family, for creativity and reflection. I don't mind about mess, I do care about cleanliness and hygiene. I expect any housemate to keep the kitchen, their bedroom and bathroom clean using cleaning products I provide in the home.
Transport:
BUS. 25 meters away is a bus stop for the X7 bus which runs from Clevedon to Bristol. Other buses from the town centre (5-10 minute walk) are X8 and X9 to Bristol. All buses are 40 minutes into the city.
CYCLE. For cyclists, it takes 30-50 minutes to cycle into Bristol city along a national cycle path.
TRAIN. Nailsea and Backwell train station is 30 minute walk away, or hop on the X8 bus which takes 5-10 minutes.
CARS. For cars, please note that there is a Bristol Clean Air zone and you will need to check if you can freely drive through this zone.
Nailsea town:
A short walk down the road is a Special Site of Scientific Interest with beautiful walks and adventures over the moors and up Tickenham hill to a Iron-aged fort Cadbury Camp. The walk through the woods all the way to Clevedon is a personal favourite, with pebble beaches and the outdoor marine lake for swimming and paddle boarding.
Noggins Fish & Chips is just up the road and it is known locally for it's great food. There is a veg shop close by, although I buy my fruit and veg from a local organic farm who deliver to my doorstep. In the town centre find coffee shops, charity shops, tattoos, restaurants, take-aways (indian, chinese, pizza), pharmacy, tesco, waitrose, co-op, pet shops, etc. Places of faith and religion too. Skatepark.
I have a pet-friendly home, however no cats and dogs can live here because I have allergies. If you bring a pet, I may ask for a larger security deposit from you.
Contact me if there is anything you think I've missed or that you would like to know about.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care,
Emily
