I am looking for a lodger to rent the spare room in my house, which is being vacated by my lovely current lodger, Spencer. I also live with my girlfriend, Emma, and our two cats, Cash and Penny.
The previous owner of the property is a carpenter who built a really wonderful wooden extension to the kitchen which is definitely the main attraction of the place.
The living room has a lovely bay window and solid wood floor, shelves filled with plenty of houseplants and books you are welcome to lend. I've got a nice 4K TV with Sky (incl. Sports), Amazon and Disney+, Mubi and a PS5.
The kitchen has a charming oak dresser, a large Smeg oven (perfect for roast dinners), and a cute pantry full of mason jars of spices/pasta etc. We've also got an amazing wooden table made by Emma's dad.
At the end of the kitchen next to the back door I've put a gorgeous piano that I got off gumtree and had tuned up which I play a bit some early evenings. Here I also have a few more houseplants and a lovely painted lamp. This adjoins the downstairs bathroom which has a washer/dryer combo.
The back garden has some lovely outdoor plants growing. The tree grows damsons in the summer which you are welcome to pick and turn into jam or gin.
Your room is a good sized double with a large vintage oak wardrobe and mahogany mirror dresser. The walls have been redecorated recently, and the carpet is a bit old but I'll be replacing it eventually.
There's an upstairs bathroom with a nice bath and a vanity with a countertop basin.
I spruced up the front garden with some reclaimed slates and new plants.
To one side is a friendly young couple and to the other side is a family with a young lad and an adorable puppy.
On-street parking (no permit required). We're walking distance to town (about 25-30 mins) or a quick 10 min car ride. 5 minute drive to all the big shops and restaurants along Newport Rd. Some lovely pubs nearby and plenty of Deliveroo options.
I'm a Structural Engineer, 29 years old, working 8-4.30 Mon-Fri. I'm in a post-punk band, I enjoy movies, cooking, football, doing a bit of arts and crafts if I have the time (rug-making, painting, sculpting etc), and I'm generally pretty friendly and easy going.
Emma is a Digital Marketer for a charity, 25, with a similar schedule. She's into fashion, literature, veggie & vegan cooking, art, design, she's super lovely, kind and friendly.
LGBTQ+ friendly. Happy for you to have friends and visitors round. I'm sure Spencer and my previous housemates Jess, Meg, Hal and Pippa will all be happy to vouch for me as a landlord and a housemate.
