Description
Hello, I’m Josie. I’m seeking a new housemate to take the place of my lovely friend who will be moving out at the middle-end of Feb or March. We have a 2-bed townhouse in Riverside/Canton which is on a very calm & peaceful street, with sweet, friendly neighbours.
Looking for:
I am looking for someone who is wanting to have a settled base and to share the space peacefully and comfortably as a shared home. It would be lovely to find someone with similar values for their home environment so we can coexist together, enjoying time together and to ourselves. All the usual things which it feels a bit overbearing to say: respectful and tidy within reason.
Preference for no couples.
Pescatarian/Vegetarian/vegan would be a welcome plus! LGBTQIA friendly & open to any gender.
About me (current tenant):
I work at the University at a research centre, split between home and the office (and some weekend work). I am calm, warm and social but very good at getting on with my own thing and leaving people to their own space. I enjoy films and cinema, painting and art, and gigs and all kinds of music, as well as spending time out in nature and exploring. I really value my connection to other people, especially those I live with. Even if it’s just the everyday routines happening side by side, if it’s comfortable it can be pretty golden :)
I am not a big drinker and pretty routine-based in the week, so someone who is similar or very considerate would be a good fit. (I am not at all judgemental, but being realistic about lifestyles from the start is probs for the best).
I can imagine another professional or a Masters/mature student suiting the home well.
About the house:
The home is situated close by (5 min walk) to Canton/Cowbridge Road East, Chapter Arts (10 mins), Grangetown (20 mins); the Sunday Riverside market (10 mins walk), and just a short walk (15-20 mins) into the city center.
Council tax band D
Rent is £675 each per month, with bills not included
Via agency but with email contact with landlord (who is honestly great - things get sorted quickly).
2 bedrooms: the smaller (double, furnished) will be available.
Beautiful upstairs bathroom with even more beautiful bath! (incredibly lovely; highlight of the house...)
Downstairs office room (used as studio space and for working from home) with two desks set up for that.
Downstairs small toilet
Front/living room
Dining room walking through to kitchen
Small wrapped around stone back garden
Bonuses…
- Piano (I don’t play and it deserves to be used!)
- Resident foster trainee guide dogs for the blind!*
*…Hopefully this is a plus to you: I volunteer to foster guide dogs for the blind while they are in training (the property is no-pets but we have a lovely landlord who agreed to this) with our current pup leaving us soon and a new one due in late spring/summer. I might be very biased, but they are lovely well behaved dogs and seeing them succeed in their training is really rewarding…and they make the house feel very homely. The right person would be comfortable and happy with dogs in the home (and up for supporting the right environment for them to be settled and thriving in their training) ...but you would not be at all obliged to take on sharing this responsibility (unless keen to!). Unfortunately the rule on no other pets would still remain.
The tenancy is set to renew from either Feb 23rd or March 23rd (tbc) until August 23rd, so a 6-month initial period - but I'll most likely be here a little while longer after that/until at least Feb 2027.
Please do get in touch if this sounds right for you - be lovely to meet you.
