Description
Hi! A spacious, comfortable house in lovely Meersbrook here, and we're looking for a housemate to share it with. A welcoming, relaxed, safe and friendly home is the goal!
The house:
A light, airy, 3 bedroom victorian house with period features. A quiet location just a stone’s throw from Meersbrook Park which is a great outdoor space with stunning views. Very well located for many local amenities including shops, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, and outdoor/leisure/health facilities (parks, gyms, swimming pool, various courts, and GP surgery all within a 10/15min walk). Very well connected by public transport to the city centre (14min by bicycle, 17min by bus), other interesting neighbourhoods, and the Peak District.
Double bedroom:
The room is fully furnished with a comfy double bed (old one in photo, new wooden pine upgrade now in place), large chest of drawers, dressing table mirror, corner wardrobe (not shown in photo), bedside table, lamp, office desk, and bookshelf, but all can be altered to suit your own preferences. It is really spacious with high ceilings, a big window, and lots of natural light throughout the day.
Shared spaces:
You’ll be encouraged to share and feel completely at home in all the common areas of the home including the living room, kitchen, both bathrooms, utility room, hallway, and garden. The house’s orientation means it benefits from lots of natural light throughout the day, which is a huge benefit particularly during the autumn and winter months. There is a big(ish!) TV in the living room and a very comfy sofa for curling up with a good series/film.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven, hob, toaster, microwave, blender, kettle, and plenty of pots, pans, and crockery - all of which you are welcome to use. A separate utility room contains a new washing machine, dryer, and additional sink. The upstairs bathroom has a hot, powerful shower.
Outdoors, the garden is large for the location, with outdoor table, flowerbeds, two allotment beds, a workshop, and space for secure off-street bicycle storage. Wildlife pond in progress, so hopefully some crested newts will want to move in soon too!
We also have an allotment at Meersbrook allotments that any housemate is welcome to use for growing and relaxing in.
The money bit:
Rent is £475/month which includes all household bills (electricity; gas; water; council tax; fast cable WiFi; online TV subscriptions). A deposit of £475 is payable.
What kind of housemate would this suit?
The kind of person who would enjoy living here probably likes a relaxed, low pressure vibe in which both being social and also having quiet time and personal space are equally embraced and respected. All backgrounds, interests, etc are equally welcome, however they will be a non-smoker, clean, tidy, respectful of shared spaces, and trustworthy. Ideally they would be looking to stay for at least six months (preferably longer) but happy to consider shorter periods too.
About us:
I (the homeowner) am mid 30’s, former CEO of various non-profit organisations, now a budding writer, illustrator, and musician. I moved to Sheffield for the outdoors and the friendly community vibes. Into hiking, music making, fossil hunting, playing sport, languages, learning Tiktok dances. Easily distracted by most things creative - need to finish crocheting a zebra but distracted by the arrival of a sewing machine! My current other housemate is a young professional, in the past we’ve had a mix of mature students and other young professionals.
Thank you for reading! If this sounds like it might suit you please get in touch to arrange a further chat and a visit.
